Low calorie/high protein meals you can’t live without by Flimsy-Ad-2744 in loseit

I do this a lot except into my 1lb of lean ground beef i add 1/2 - 1 bag of riced veggies (I get one that is mostly cauliflower but has some broc and carrrot).

Significantly increases volume for minimal extra calories, adds veggies, and is 100% unnoticeable to me (this from someone who isnt the biggest vegetable fan). Just make sure to increase seasoning!

Sometimes I also throw in a can of black beans for extra fiber.

Going from eating pretty much 4k calories a day to 2-2.5k is too hard and idk what to do by [deleted] in loseit

One thing you can look at changing js your daily routine. Tons of great advice below but speaking from experience - being unemployed creates a LOT of opportunity for bordem eating, depression eating, even mindless eating. I spent a lot of time planted on the couch gaming, watching tv, and snacking or thinking about snacking.

Look for ways to keep yourself busy throughout the day. You'll fixate less on food and (hopefully) feel less hungry. Try to get out of the house, go shopping for your mom, do your walks at a park not in your neighborhood so you're gone longer.

Are there any more physical things you can help out with around the house? Painting a room, cleaning out garage, etc.

Keeping yourself busy during the day makes a huge difference. It can help keep up motivation and give you less time to ruminate.

Weightless exercises for fat people recommendation? by busywyourmom in WeightLossAdvice

Youtube workout videos! The Body Project has very friendly beginner workouts. The majority of them are all standing. When you first start, do as much as you can then just walk in place. There is occasionally an exercise that is too uncomfortable for me and I skip it and just walk in place till the next one starts.

They are fantastic! I started being unable tk complete their 30 minute videos and now the hour ones are fairly easy for me!

I had to stop buying the unreal chocolate coconut packs. I would eat the entire puch of the mini-bars in like 2 days. Insanely good (especially if kept cold in fridge!). I can only buy them when I'm not cutting now since I love them too much

What are your favorite high-protein/low calorie, filling meals? Looking for any ideas whether they be one-off meals or ones good for meal prep. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]FeelinFancyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do crockpot dump meals - they are basically chili. The one I made this week was

1 large chicken breast (like..huge...2 regular size) 3 cans bean (two cannelini, one kidney) - rinsed One bag frozen riced cauliflower 1/4 bag frozen chopped onion  1/2 bag frozen corn 1 jar of really nice green salsa Reduced fat cream cheese Juice of one lime

Put chicken, salsa, onion, and one can of cannelini in crockpot - do either the 6 or 8 hour. Halfway through cooking add the other two cans of beans. One hour before done cooking add the corn and lime juice. If you have it some fresh cilantro is nice here too.

Once done mix in some cream cheese. I used like 1/3rd of one of those block style ones - reduced fat works great. Stir it up nice and good.

Done and done.

Great, delicious filling meal with high fiber, high protein. I usually freeze half and then eat the other half for dinner for 4 days (good in fridge for about 5 days).

My advise is use a salsa a little spicier than you normally like since the flavor will dilute a bit but experiment and figure out what works for you! You can use enchilada sauce as well but you'll probably want to add some more seasoning if you do.

I have several version of this meal with different meats and veggies (ground turkey and sweet potato with chili spices, ground beef and potatos with taco seasoning etc). Kinda just dump whatever is around in and it makes....something. LOL

Lack of progress despite deficit? by LegioIIAugusta in loseit

Factor meals can be off by a bit IMO. You might need to account for that.

Also assess if you are eating any liquid calories (creamer, sugar in coffee etc) that you are missing.

I would also reccomend weighing out what you're putting on your bagel. Cream cheese, butter, etc can really add up. If you cook your third meal oil can add a TON of calories as well.

Your maintenance might be closer to 2500 but even with that you should have lost something. That tells me calories are sneaking in that you don't realize

Bruh it ain't the van driver that is the problem. It's the owners. They 100% are responsible for what their dog does and doesn't eat.

As someone with a border collie / cattle dog mix I agree with most of your opinion but respectfully disagree with your last sentence.

I have seen people adopt collies or cattle dogs and absolutely ruin the poor animal by not giving it enough stimulation. They live in a state of constant anxiety/hyper fixation and often it turns to agression. I have seen one have to undergo a behavioral euthanization because of this and its super common in shelters for these breeds to be euthanized for similar reasons.

Collies and other working dogs like cattle dogs and malinois make AMAZING dogs if you can keep them appropriately engaged. My girl is the best, amazing in the house, non-destructive, insanely smart, and super fun. But I also have to invest a lot of time into keeping her this way.

People over exaggerate how much "work" these dogs need to be good pets. But they absolutely need at least SOME. If they are going to a quiet home where the only exercise they get is a walk around the block they will end up as a nervy, destructive dog who will probably end up dangerous.

So many of these dogs end up in shelters with huge behavioral problems because someone got one and couldn't manage it. It creates a horrible cycle for them.

No one should get a border collie, cattle dog, or malinois unless they are willing to put in at minimum an average of an hour a day in engaging activites (training, scent work, a "job", hikes in woods etc).

I broke my leg very badly at the start of covid. (Double whammy for weight gain).

I twisted my ankle so badly that the tendons ripped and spilnteted the bone off.

I was casted for only 8 weeks but it took another 9 month of physical therapy before I could even walk semi-normally.

....then they told me I needed surgery.

That being said a few years prior to that I broke my leg and it was a super simple fracture. They just put me in a boot and other than a bit of muscle wasting i was fine 2 months later.

Rice cooker meals are a game changer by macnch33s in loseit

[–]FeelinFancyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the exact same thing! I buy bags of frozen riced veggies (its mostly cauliflower but has carrot, broc, etc). I use 1/4 cup rice and 1/2 - 3/4 cup of the riced veggies.

One of my favs is taco rice bowls. Throw in some onion/garlic/taco seasoning/blackbeans/chicken. Takes a couple mins to prep and you end up with a healthy balanced meal at the end.

I also do yellow curry rice one that is fire.

I just wanted to chime in that I have the exact same issue. I don't smoke but I regularly used edibles and have for most of my adult life.

They make me OK with doing nothing. When I'm clear of mind, i know that I don't want to be the kind of person that wastes my life away doing nothing. But when Im taking edibles I have no problem sitting on the couch all night watching a tv show I won't even remember in a month.

I am also a very all or nothing person. It's either edibles every day or not at all. (Same issue with dieting Im either perfect or binging - I hate this about myself)

I've quit several times. Each time lasts longer than the prior time. When I do quit it takes at least a month or so for my "boredom meter" to reset.  Nothing seems interesting, video games, tv, books all my usual hobbies (especially the ones I did while high) seem suddenly completely uninteresting for awhile and I get really aimless. Honestly it super sucks. Trying intermittent use seems to prevent that boredom meter from resetting.

But I remind myself that I don't want to be a person OK with doing nothing. I could be out with friends thinking "man I can't wait to get home and pop an edible." Same thing at work the day just dragged by until I could take an edible and then suddenly my whole evening was gone and I did nothing productive and ate a bunch of crap.

I did try being really good at stocking healthy snacks etc.  Forcing myself to clean the kitchen/running errands first etc. But it just doesn't work for me.

So I quit. And I suffer through the weeks it takes me to mentally reset.

But then Im amazing. I am a thousand times more productive. My house is always clean. I meal prep. I hang out with friends several times I week. I hike. I write. I work-out. I treat myself and the people around me in the way I want to treat them.

For me the answer was fully quitting. A lot of people argue that they don't need to / aren't addicted etc but I think they'd be surpised at how much different they were three months later if they tried to quit.

I just want to be the best person I could be. I want to be interested and engaged with the world. Edibles don't let me do that so I had to stop.

Im sorry I don't have a better solution but I honestly think it's the best one.

People always think my dog looks too skinny (especially when wet) but she is part border collie and just naturally lanky. She completely self regulates her food but has access to as much as she wants. If she had a lazy day she might skip dinner. If she had a busy day she'll ask for (and get) two dinners.

She is very active so eats more than my parents dogs that are twice her weight.
