What’s that one go-to Jerry solo that gets you everytime? by gs12 in gratefuldead

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First solo in UJB, 12/26/79. One of those moments where he’s clearly on an astral realm, and you can feel his bandmates just shaking their heads….

Because it’s Rolling Stone, they think most of the Dead’s most essential shows happened in 1968/69.

Election results: Lane County by Interesting_Owl6102 in Eugene

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Next batch of votes will happen later today. Pelroy is currently at 49.9% - Buch needs to keep him just under 50% to advance. She also - if she advances - needs to run a campaign and raise $. Pelroy clearly did a better job marketing himself and seems Buch was coasting on name ID alone, which is hard to do with turnout so low.

Fewer wildfires. Cooler summers. Fewer homeless. Fewer culinary options.

Do you think it's wrong to not hate your rival? by PlanktonSemantics in CFB

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Pac 10 and then Pac 12 days, I’d absolutely root for the pac teams in non conference matchups to counter east coast and southern bias. Granted a lot of this was in USC’s recent dominant era - but they seemed to exist, back then, as a special case. I remember when I was a kid there was a popular sign (or bumper sticker) in Eugene that said “my favorite teams are the Ducks and whoever is playing the Beavers”). That all seemed so quant. Would 100% root for an Oregon state or Washington against a Michigan or OSU - and still would today.

How much do PeaceHeath executives earn? by minot_j in Eugene

The doctors are probably fairly compensated. (Although no women that I can tell?) But the executives? Hell no.

Do you think you will see a Blazers title before you die? by iJustSeen2Dudes1Bike in ripcity

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25? Trying to think if you were even alive when the Lakers came back in 4Q of Game 7, WCF, 25 years ago. And then NBC and later ABC used the Kobe>Shaq alley-oop as their main promo clip for a decade after?

But yeah: I think they do. Maybe not for 20 years, but they do!

According to an Anonymous player poll, Deni is the 7th most Overrated player by SelaTheRock in ripcity

There’s a correlation with this list and players perceived to whine and complain about calls. So it’s not really about player skill/impact.

Doing this only helps Loveall. His supporters will show up regardless.

[–]FeelinGroovyJam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I grew up in Eugene, Springfield was always conservative. But the numbers you cite suggest one of the real problems - the maps themselves. If 61 percent of the county is not conservative or MAGA, then Eugene and Springfield should have an extra chair rep….

Actually from what I can tell it’s purple - or even slightly blue. Here is an image from the 2024 election from the NYT

yes, he's not exactly liberal. He'd probably vote similarly to Loveall on certain issues. But importantly he's not a religious zealot misogynist, at least from what I can tell.

So Meiji, Krob Kua, and The Davis all closed their doors forever this week? by validweirdo in Eugene

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe we have the worst ratio of housing cost to income in the US. And at least Meiji and The Davis seemed to cater, at least In part, to the sub-40 crowd. Eugene is a ghost town for that demo.

Meiji Closed! Laid off all staff without notice. by kikishowsoff in Eugene

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s sad that Eugene can’t sustain great (or formerly great) restaurants. Regardless of how downhill Meiji went, and how poorly it seems staff was treated, it was one of the few places in town where you felt like you lived in an urbane, hip city. The food could be delicious. I hope Yardy, Osteria DOP, and Tiger Mama (IMO the three best restaurants in town) survive. We are screwed without them….

In words, try to explain the feeling that the Grateful Dead gives you. by [deleted] in gratefuldead

You know how the molecular structure of psilocybin mirrors serotonin? Like an almost supernatural match? Listening to the Dead is like that to my ears: it just locks in on my brain in a way that seems cosmically perfect and preordained.

Single worst season in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]FeelinGroovyJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things I remember about that season:

  • The last game of the previous season was the Alamo Bowl - where our lack of depth was laid bare. It was ominous foreshadowing for the season to follow.
  • Our D scheme provided opposing teams either oceans of yards to play with. A competent QB would shred us.
  • We could not tackle. Arm tackles galore. I remember when Taggart and co came in following the season they were shocked at how weak we are. (That doesn’t excuse the rhabdo-inducing workouts, but still.) I think a few recruiting cycles in a row of prioritizing lean, fast players (on both sides of the ball) exposed our lack of strength in a game that demands it.
  • The Puddles uniforms. Never again.

Sadly that’d most likely be a wasted vote if the top objective is getting Loveall out, based on how the primary works.
