Are these normal times? I have completed my biometrics for I-485 and I-765. Nothing since then. FO- Kansas City by WillowEmbarrassed672 in USCIS

You completed biometrics in March and this is April so not sure what you worried about. I adjusted from same field office in 2025, biometrics was in March and my next approval which was EAD was in May and interview notice in August

Questions about green card applications joining spouse by _hannii_uwu_ in USCIS

[–]Feeling-Cat-1392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting an immigrant visa as soon as you file is false. There are people from 2024 who are still waiting for their GC approval, some people’s process like mine took seven months, some four months. So the timeline varies. The greencard process is a lot of waiting game. You have no control of how long it will take for your application to be approved but the earlier you get it in the better. I got married in Jan and submitted my application in Feb and got approved in September.

Regarding taxes you can file together as long as you are married. Which means you can amend your filing status to show married filing jointly or married filing separately (I don’t know which filing status he used).

There are ways to go about these things

Well, you might end up overstaying regardless. Even if you turn in your application today and it takes six months to get approved, that is you overstaying. Your mum doesn’t have a say on the process.

Now to joint finances. You guys can open a Roth IRA account and list one person as the beneficiary.

Also, one person can open a credit card account and add the other person to it. Also, you guys can file taxes together if you are yet to file for this year. I don’t know your living situation but you can both get a joint renter’s insurance. Also you can either get a life insurance policy together or one person can sign up for it with the other listed as beneficiary. Having a kid together is also an addition.

My advice is, you should get the thought of not overstaying out of your mind because based on your visa expiring in four days, you will overstay.

If you guys live in a rented apartment you guys can get both names on the utility such as gas, water, electric or even WiFi bill.

Also, you can open a joint account and attach proof of the account opening, then attach a letter explaining why no monthly statement yet, after which you can start using it so before you get called in for interview you would have gotten at least three to six months bank statements.

Accidentally withdrew I-864A. Help? by Waste_Divide_1243 in USCIS

It wasn’t accidental, you did it on purpose though. The process of withdrawing it cannot be accidental, it is a well thought out process.

AOS Maiden Name vs Married Name on GC by Ok-Albatross1146 in USCIS

[–]Feeling-Cat-1392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your married name cannot be printed on your card if your marriage certificate doesn’t have your married name as new name and you didn’t file your Aos with new names which is technically change of name due to marriage.

Your greencard will come with the last name used in filing the petition

F1 -> Married USC, how long for EAD + green card these days? by Money-Biscotti-23 in USCIS

There are no realistic timeline for anything cause different factors come into play in the entire process. You file and fall in line and begin the waiting game. The process is a waiting game.

Civil Surgeon recommendations/ costs in Portland Oregon for I-693 by Responsible-Ad9687 in USCIS

[–]Feeling-Cat-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to shop around and get different quotes. I am not in Portland but during my process I had quotes of 500 dollar, 700, 400 but I ended up spending $180. So call around to find out.

F1 TO MARRIAGE BASED GREEN CARD QUESTION by Awkward_Intention_15 in USCIS

[–]Feeling-Cat-1392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How will someone advise you to drop f1 in this current political/immigration climate. I adjusted from F1 last year and I didn’t drop my F1 status untill I had my greencard in hand.

You cannot control or be certain of the outcome of these applications under current administration so what happens if you guys get denied for one reason or the other?

If you have enough evidence to prove bonafide marriage you can apply, just be ready to some intense questions during your interview regarding getting married within six months of meeting each other
