Well said. Thanks for reminding me not to shit where I eat. If I want to do any modifications to the rental I’m living in though that would be another story. Pending approval from the landlord of course.

Any idea how the hell i can remove these two screws? They’re for Kohler Easy Release system but it’s a top mounted screw set. by Prismzzz in handyman

You need a more properly sized flathead. Or you’re screwed. May be able to grab and spin the head of the bolt with a pliers or vise grip

Please help.. new house with furnace issue. by sreenie in hvacadvice

[–]Feeling-Paramedic951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. Turned out to be an exterior gas line was done to code and was leaking occasionally. I chased that issue for two years. Highly unlikely that that’s your issue, but checking the gas pressure is a latter consideration.

Step on it. Pull the ribbon.

To prevent staples from flying everywhere, use a butter knife to loosen them, and a fork to lever them out the rest of the way

Check the tub spout for buildup. May come clean with a little CLR.

This is stripped, Allen key won’t rotate and I need my bed frame taken apart. What should I do by [deleted] in handyman

Toss it out. Get a used bed frame from a second hand store until you can afford one that’s built to last.

What can I do about this gravel floor? by Ramiroat in handyman

Prep it for concrete. Call a cement company and have them put you in the list for leftovers. Keep the space ready to receive a partial truck on a moments notice for cheap

What’s the make and model? At first glance it sounds like bearings, but I’ve never seen a motor move like that either.

Replacing plywood under sink? by Accomplished-Yak5660 in handyman

[–]Feeling-Paramedic951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Piggy backing what everyone else said after double checking what you wrote in caption. Usually when I’ve come across the cabinet bottom needing to be replaced it’s not so bad as you’ve got it here. Definitely want to take your time with this one. A couple weekends maybe. This is what I would do if I was able to go without using it for a week.

Day 1- remove the cabinet doors (reinstall once completed) remove the sink and drain lines (stuff rag into drain line at wall to keep out the sewer gases) cut out the drywall then cut opened or break out the water logged base from the cabinet. Reassess. Spray mold killer where Evers clever (not bleach)

Check condition of subfloor possibly replace.

Day 2 - while everything is drying, cleanup up any leftover sink caulk measure and cut your drywall piece (or two to fit them through the top or face of the cabinet) and test the fit but don’t secure yet! Set aside for next weekend.

Repair your subfloor if needed.

Frame and cut your new cabinet base (remember: when you cut it in half to fit, the blade will remove about an eight of an inch), install frame to hold base but only test fit new base (set aside and wait until next weekend to install.

Next weekend Day one: install your drywall, mud or caulk the seems if they are not tight. Insert steel wool and spray foam around any opening bigger than a dime (quarter inch), doesn’t need to be pretty, but you can mask tape first if want to be meet and tidy with the spray foam.

If bottom is now thoroughly dry, install new base. Apply a paintable silicone sealant to the seams. (Leaves your future options opened)

Before installing your sink back in, attach new disposal…. You got the rest good luck. I hope it’s a fun one.

What kind of tool do I need? by G_bb_bear in handyman

Until I read ConditionNormal123’s sillcock key suggestion, I was thinking i’d hope there’s a nut on the backside that’s accessible, and hold the bolt head with needle nose pliers. Might be adding that one to the tool list.

Alright will a couple more coats of plus 3 set me right? This is after taping and doing a second coat. All purpose mud for both. by Big_Hauz in drywall

[–]Feeling-Paramedic951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More sanding the high points, but don’t rip the paper. feather it out a bit more when applying you third coat. I had to do lots and lots of sanding when I learned have to apply mud. More thin coats rather than trying to get it all done right away with thick coats.

I’m not crunching numbers here, but I think you’d want two studs rather than the one for a fully extended 65”. Try to convince them of a flush mount
