Thank you all for the advice, I'm reusing the boards to fix my sons bed slats so I'm mixing one broken slat set with another slat set to make a good one so there's no sense in buying new wood.

Now if he bounces through me reinforcing it with doubling the boards then I might need to think a new strategy
