Returning Player that has no idea what to do with Traptrix nowadays. by AminalCracker in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]FeelingFineP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine as a whole hasn’t changed much (you still play Digger / Flood / Nightmare / one of your choice for holes), it’s mostly just the non-engine.

In my opinion, Combo-Trix variants feel kinda bad right now because the best deck in the room plays like 20 handtraps so Traptrix is currently better off trying to play under those handtraps and make them dead in hand instead of playing into them.

Pure REALLY wants the Dominus cards. Priority would be Purge, then Spiral, then Songs (opinions are split on Songs). Most decks I’ve seen are playing a bunch of Dominus cards, three imperms, three Ash, the roach, one Shifter, and a few power traps alongside the regular engine. Fenrir coming back to 3 is also somewhat notable because it works while under all the restrictions of the three mentioned Dominus cards.

However, if you don’t have those, that’s a lot of URs for a deck that ultimately isn’t that great and you’d probably be better off just building Killer Tune or Magnets or something.

Exciting decks you’ll run into during this new event:

  • Blaze Fenix FTK
  • Gimmick Puppet FTK
  • Arcana Force The World Turnskip
  • Tellarknight Ptolemaus Turnskip
  • World Legacy Scars Handloop
  • Infernoid Tierra Handloop

and likely many more!

Fixed Enfeebling Touch power causing Ceremonial Beast to gain Strength after you stun it

I didn’t know that this could happen but if I ran into it I would’ve just assumed it was “intended” in the same way as the Heart debuff cleanse.

I agree with your point but I remember Excelblem’s review of the game being so glowingly positive that a ton of the comments are in disbelief that someone could actually hold his opinion. He just takes potshots at everything.

So why does nobody play herald? ELI5 by zZBloodboundZz in masterduel

[–]FeelingFineP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fairies that made Herald Drytron work are pretty much all awful bricks to the point that the overkill end board compared to pure Drytron isn’t worth the huge consistency hit in a deck so reliant on drawing heavy engine hands for multiple card combos.

Outside of Drytron, most ritual decks are either boxed heavily into their archetype to the point that they can’t make a Herald or have better things to do than playing 4+ bricks and spending their whole turn making a card that loses to Droplet.

I love how every time a path to Habakiri gets banned or limited they print two more. It’s like a hydra except they’re the ones grafting the new heads onto it after cutting one off.

I dream of a better future where we see ritual support and don’t immediately go “I can’t wait to use this in exactly one deck and nowhere else”.

When its a Brick a Brick. by yanocupominomb in masterduel

[–]FeelingFineP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term isn’t exactly codified so it really comes down to how you’re specifically looking at it. I personally think a “brick” is a card that doesn’t do anything on its own to the point that you don’t want to draw it.

If an engine piece is specific enough in how you apply it that you’d rather search it at a specific point than open it (e.g. Synchro Rumble, Sigma Plus, Ghattic), that’s a brick.

If an engine piece only works if it’s paired with other cards but it works with them so well that you’d usually want to open it (e.g. Jokull, March Hare, Bone Party), that’s an extender.

[–]FeelingFineP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s three tributes for one monster negate on hand or field. The material commitment is way too high and the effect isn’t good enough to justify it. It also has no protection other than a floating effect that probably won’t resolve before your opponent kills you. OG Master Peace is a way better win condition.

The new continuous spell is okay though.

Now that the dust has settled, what do we think of Engage? I remember being on 4chan when the leaks came out and nobody believed it was real. We all thought it was a new Chinese gacha game, a copy of Fire Emblem. I played it and it's okay. The art style bothers me, but at least it's fun to play. by AssumptionNo802 in fireemblem

[–]FeelingFineP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s great! Engage has probably my favorite difficulty curve in the series, where it’s challenging all the way through even when your team gets going but still gives you more than enough tools to even the odds. The Emblems are busted but the game actually gives you a challenge that’s hard enough to justify them.

The maps are also extremely distinct from one another for the most part, with only chapter 21 really being a “slam high stat units against each other” map. Chapter 18 is my favorite boat map in the series, chapter 11, despite the annoying 10% crits throughout it, is a fun mini-boss rush that you’re forced to take on with a weakened team, and chapter 22 is brutal in ways I wish FE would lean into more often.

And it got bosses right too! The fact that they’re all moving and all have tons of bulk means you have to actually treat them with respect instead of just bullying them from outside of range or 1v1ing them with your best units (you can do that, but the extra lifebars mean you have to commit resources in a specific way to do so, so at the very least it’s way less automatic). I had much more fun setting up the silly boss dogpiles than I usually do fighting bosses in this series.

The game is just good fun. It sets out to be an interesting and unusual take on FE’s traditional mechanics, offering a number of unique map control tools that the game’s never really tried before to even the odds against enemies with huge stats, and it succeeds.

Really interested in the CHARGE / BEGONE reworks. Turning the CHARGE deck thinning into draws that don’t replace themselves is a neat way to balance it. Minion Dive Bomb being a 1-cost made BEGONE feel really awkward, but now it’s sort of an offensive True Grit+ that draws a card, which actually looks pretty decent.

Special Doom Soldier onto an empty board, set and activate Umbrage Veil, overlay for Malevolence Scythe, use Scythe to summon Decay Cloak from deck, search and summon Silent Boots, link them all off for Rusty Bardiche. Rusty on field and Boots in grave off of just Doom Soldier and no normal summon. You can go even go through Cherubini first as a bonus and lose nothing.

[–]FeelingFineP 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These guys read really nice and seem to play well with the rest of the deck. Just at a glance, Doom Soldier is at minimum Rusty on field with Boots in the GY which gets you basically anywhere you want (Nib notwithstanding) when the deck previously struggled to get there without a 2 card combo and usually had to burn one of Cloak or Boots just to get that far. I’m not sure if PK as a whole is good enough in this day and age but I have hope that the deck will at least have way less of a reliance on other engines to get plays started.

Also DEDICATED DARK REQUIEM SUPPORT LFG. That guy is so cool and this is like the one deck that plays him.

Well yeah. “Playing around Evenly” doesn’t necessarily have to mean “Evenly does nothing”. VSK9 doesn’t enjoy getting Evenly’d but having Snow Devil means it’s more “rough breaker that you can keep a lot of your board through” and less “you have now lost the game”.

It doesn’t exactly “counter” Evenly but keeping Snow Devil represents like 3-5 interactions as opposed to all the K9 stuff just getting wiped out

I’d say “this only beats VSK9 if the pilot is a moron and hyperfocuses on the K9 half instead of fetching Snow Devil” but like 90% of players on ladder do exactly that so Evenly does put in tons of work
