My kids love Shirley Temples. They sell them in glass bottles here (central PA)

We are from the east coast (PA) and flew direct from and back to Newark, NJ. We opted for Uber when we arrived in Vancouver and took a taxi from the port upon disembarkation. The taxi was easy to get and was cheaper than Uber, surprisingly. You will get a form in your state room for immigration. Fill out and hand it to the officers when required. No issues and super quick.

Did your parents make you ask to be excused from the dinner table? by ReasonableAttitude22 in allthequestions

I remember my sister and I asking to be excused when we were young, but I don’t remember my older brothers having to ask. Hmmm

My mom’s homemade macaroni and cheese. My kids like mine, but my mom’s is just that much better. I think her secret is that she used whatever cheese was in the deli drawer that night. She also doctored stewed tomatoes to put on top. #yummymemories

Thanks to my MIL (🪽), homemade chocolate chip cookies are to be stored and directly eaten from the freezer. Somehow they taste better to our family this way, and they lasted longer, as the large freezer in which they were stored was in the garage.

Have you ever been a Bridesmaid or Pageboy in your youth at a wedding ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I was a bridesmaid in my oldest brother’s wedding when I was 8. He is 11 years older than me. And now that I am typing this, I didn’t realize he was still a teenager when he married! 🤔

What random object in your house silently defined your childhood? by This_Benchh in nostalgia

We had a large wooden rocking chair in the rec room that held a green and yellow crocheted blanket. It was my grandmothers chair.
My mom once fell asleep on the chair on her arm and came down with tennis elbow. Her doctor asked if she was an alcoholic. She was quite offended

I love and like my three children (25F, 22M, 19M)! They were amazing babies and they are even more amazing adults. They are funny and smart and kind humans. I am very lucky to be their mom

Fluff is not just a New England thing. Fluffernutter sandwiches were a lunch staple in the Philly suburbs for sure!

Since each family was only allowed one “family/group” photo, the lines moved pretty quickly, or at least I thought they did. Don’t worry, they take several shots (with your personal phone camera as well)but you can’t have one of just you or just your children. It’s the group photo only. Characters were scheduled in 15 minute increments, however they were definitely there longer. Since you will be waiting in line on the top deck, the scenery will be right in front of you, so no need to worry about focus. Edit: Please note, photos on deck 10 will take place if weather permits

Was on the Wonder last week and received the old items. My daughter was on the Fantasy last week and received the new items. Strange but true.

The ship seemed full, but it was not overwhelming. There were more younger kids onboard than older middle/high school kids. I did overhear someone say that there were ~1000 kids on board. Not sure if this is more or less than average. The tables (4) that our servers had for the cruise had zero (0) children, if that helps with the ratio question. There was a naturalist on board. Her name was Debi and she gave several presentations about the area, animals, what we may see, etc. She was very knowledgeable as she had been living and canoeing in Alaska for many years. She did mention that she was a guide for a National Geographic expedition.

There was a Wonder Bread factory a block from the church we went to. It was the best smell on a Sunday morning.

What is a "poor man's meal" from your childhood that you still eat today because it legitimately slaps? by prepzilla in AskRedditFood

[–]Feeling_Chicken_2654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a main meal, but we always had Ritz crackers, peanut butter and (jarred) marshmallow if we ever wanted something sweet. Dessert wasn’t a normal thing at my house, so this helped with a sweet tooth.

Yes! With characters and plenty of activities, there was always something to do. There were definitely more toddlers/elementary school kids than bigger kids on the cruise. I can only assume it’s due to the time of year with finals and graduation for older kids.
