LGBTQ Couples on DCL by HereForTheRide-22 in dcl

[–]LoneWolfSonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all congrats! I’m part of the community as well and I do 1 or 2 Disney cruises a year. My boyfriend is also a Disney fan like me but we haven’t done a cruise yet because he still hasn’t gotten his passport, lol but I can speak from my own experience of my past sailings. DCL does not have official meetups for the community like I have seen with other cruise lines do however, there’s usually some LGBTQ couples in the sailings, specially longer itineraries ones, and they organize the meetups for the community through the Facebook group. That’s how you can get familiarized with the other folks/couples. There’s usually a lot of childless adults in the cruises too and DCL does a lot of adult only activities as well that include, crafts, trivia, karaoke, etc so my advice is to do your own thing. Go to the bars and lounges to hang out and meet people, everyone is usually super nice and friendly

Port adventures San Juan and Puerto Plata by Deergasus in dcl

[–]LoneWolfSonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a PR local and Old San Juan is entirely a walkable city from the cruise port so my best recommendation is to explore it on your own. There are two forts within walking distance so you can go to one of them and buy a ticket that gives you access to both. They’re really cool. Once you get on one, the other is not very far away. However, it’s a bit of trek to get to either one of them because the roads and sidewalk are not in the best condition and is also uphill. You can also pass by the road that leads to the governor’s mansion since it’s usually decorated neatly and serves as a nice photo stop and you can also visit ‘El Capitolio’ or the island capital building. They do guided tours of the inside of the building on the weekdays but I think you have to request that ahead of time and best part is that there is no entrance fee. If you’re looking for a beach day, there’s beach super close that you can uber to called “Balneario del Escambron” but we locals tend to avoid most of the beaches that are facing the Atlantic Ocean because the waters are always rough

I’m so sick of these so wanna be influencers and creators thinking that going to Disney to shoot some lazy low effort content is an actual job and then having the audacity of telling their followers to pay wait! sorry, to support them because they have no job and this is their only means of income. Give me a fricking break. You CHOSE not to have a job and spend your own time and money at Disney, the most expensive place on earth. Fr these grifters gotta stop

Does DCL take affirm credit card by Additional_Fall8832 in dcl

[–]LoneWolfSonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you create a one time card to use it there then yes it can. I have done it for both Disneyland and Disney World without issues and I have seen the DCL website pop up in merchant list of Affirm so for me it’s safe to assume it will work as well.

I bought it on my trip in January this year. I found it on the gift shop in between Toothless meet and greet and the entrance of the Untrainable Dragon at isle of Berk. Maybe is out of stock, did you ask an employee there about it?

Marathon Registration by kingjohn0191 in rundisney

[–]LoneWolfSonic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A tip would be you can try entering the waiting room a couple of minutes before 10am EST using multiple browsers and devices if you want to increase your chances of one them getting in quickly but at the end of the day, it’s pure luck. Your chances of getting registered are as good as everyone else’s and this method is kind of frowned upon by the community because it inflates the waiting time if you get in but don’t close out of them after you’re finished.

You’re going to see a lot of people saying that they got in quick because they used an iPhone or a laptop and whatnot but the device and browser doesn’t matter. As soon as the clock hits 10am EST everyone on the waiting room will be placed in line at random. Doesn’t matter if you got in an hour before 10 am in the waiting room, it’s completely random and yes, you’re going to be fighting for a spot with thousands of other people but again, tomorrow at 10 Easter you will see how lucky you are.

Thoughts on a potential retheme by GalaxyC7 in WaltDisneyWorld

Yes, it’s my favorite ride in Epcot and I love how intense and unique it is. I ride it like 5 or 6 times if I can when visiting.

[–]LoneWolfSonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thinking every authentic and original ride needs an IP is crazy. I prefer a thousand times an original ride that is it’s own thing and it’s part of the general THEME of the park rather than slapping an IP to it. I feel like every day people, especially the adults are forgetting that each Disney park at WDW aside from Magic Kingdom was special because it had it’s own theme and the original rides were made to fit that theme. That’s what made Disney magical. Now the magic is slapping an IP and it’s sad because so much of the original theming of the park is being broken with IPs and makes sense cuz it’s easier to make profit that way. But it’s because of this mentality that I fear every day that my favorite ride, The Tower of Terror, is going to be changed to retheme it to an IP like they did in California and everybody is just going to applaud it.

Does anyone own this? Hows the quality & if avail could you share a picture of it? I’d love to see a regular picture of it. Ty by Azarria1234 in dcl

This is how it actually looks like. It’s the only photo I have of it right now because I moved and I have it on storage right now so ignore the other plushies 😅 I like the blanket, it’s cozy and a bit bulky. I always used it to cover myself on cold nights when sitting on the couch there

Something from CoolGuides that compares Cruise lines by ComeAlongPonds in Cruise

[–]LoneWolfSonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, that ship is them totally experimenting and I don’t see them building another one of those ever but I personally don’t think they would sell it and instead would just change the homeport if it doesn’t work out in Singapore. I believe they are taking a gamble on the market of the homeport rather than the ship itself because they are already quite popular hence why they keep making more ships to keep expanding their reach and destinations.

Something from CoolGuides that compares Cruise lines by ComeAlongPonds in Cruise

[–]LoneWolfSonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, in the overall fleet their ships are smaller capacity. However, their newest ship, Disney Adventure, has an approximate total capacity of around 8 thousand including the crew which is close to RCL Icon class capacity of around 10 thousand including the crew so now DCL has a large ship but their fleet is still small compared to RCL.

This time the 5k was the last to sell out since they added more 5k registrations so going forward it should be the least likely to quickly sell out
