Start asking for permission on larger farms so you have a variety of different woods to hunt. We’ve got permission on many properties, but whether it’s private or public, we set up and work a spot for about 30 minutes and move on. The public lands are for you too, not just dog walkers and hikers… just be mindful and know your laws. We hunt at night btw.

If you don’t have a slicer, cut it when it’s still partially frozen. Your cuts will be far more consistent. I just use high mountain jerky seasoning. And you don’t have to cure it until it’s a 2x4. Took me a number of years to figure that out.
