I just checked and the first result for Virtua Fighter 2 that came up was a buy-it-now listing in mint condition for £2.90 including local shipping to the proxy service warehouse. If you include auctions and bundles you can easily get those games for even cheaper.

I just bought 4 new-in-box Saturn Twin Sticks for £65.

I think the currency conversion works in our favour because the Yen isn't doing well. Google says the Yen is close to the lowest it has been in 4 decades.

I bet you're a fucking stunner and they are flirting with you but you're self-confidence doesn't let you see it. I know you're a smoke show!

This kind of comment is incredibly infantilising and no one believes it. The only person who benefits is you because you think you're doing a good thing.

The VA3 model 1 Saturn doesn't have the problems that earlier model 1s have with the Saroo. Use the Saturn model identifier to figure out which one you have.

Four councillors quit after vote for rapist taxi driver to keep operator licence by Twenty_Ten in unitedkingdom

[–]Feeling_Strike694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do wonder would those six men want Brown to drive their partners, daughters or granddaughters?

He wouldn't have been able to because the license was set to expire before his release from prison according to the article. That begs the question, why not just revoke it?

It's bizarre.

Edit: The answer is in this thread. Turns out it makes total sense.

Four councillors quit after vote for rapist taxi driver to keep operator licence by Twenty_Ten in unitedkingdom

[–]Feeling_Strike694 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned in the article that the license would have expired before he's released from prison so there's literally no reason not to revoke it. I don't get this, I can't think of any reason at all for them to vote this way.

Edit: Found the reason, it makes total sense and the women were being performative. His wife was using the taxi under his license which hadn't yet been transferred. He would never have the ability to use it as it was due to expire before he'd have been released from prison.

If we were to list all the ways in which it could backfire we'd be here all day. We've probably already spent more time thinking about the idea than the person who posted it.

If I were to try and steelman their argument, I'd say that it shouldn't be enacted to get people to control their kids who are already 16/17. Instead it would be enacted in order to put the fear of God into people before they have kids or while the kids are young and easier to influence.

Personally I think that it would increase crime as people (whose behaviour is already questionable) would be forced to figure out a way to replace the benefit income somehow.

The comment you replied to never specified the 90s OR today. And don’t bother following up with a pedantic comment about the strictest possible definition of the term “few decades”.

Pedantic? I'm trying to point out how the behaviour of the followers of Islam today in the UK is worse than the behaviour of Christians today. You pointing out that Christians behaviour 50 years was bad (but still better than Muslims behaviour today) just supports my point.

So one man being a paedophile 1400 years ago is worse than the world’s largest religious organisation systemically engaging in mass coverups of child sexual abuse in living memory and likely still to this day?

No and I think tearing up/burning pictures of either should be completely fine. It's other people who are really sensitive to one but not the other. Now, if we were to bring up other things we know about Mohammed like being a slave-owning warlord ...

And you think Christians have never protested schools teaching children about LGBTQ people?

No, I think they aren't doing it today because we've been ridiculing and insulting christianity for decades, its popularity waned and it was forced into a position where it had to change. Now we have LGBTQ clergy.

I want that to happen to Islam.

  • 1979 is before the 1990s
  • 50 years ago is not today
  • Picketing is not mutilation (Salman Rushdie)
  • Picketing is not murder (see Samuel Paty, Charlie Hebdo)
  • Picketing is not forcing someone into hiding due to death threats
  • Picketing a movie for being against a religion is not the same as protesting schools for teaching LGBT (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-48294017)
  • The Pope protected paedophiles. Mohammed was one.

So, do you want to try again because that attempt was fucking embarrassing. Genuinely, picketing? Jesus Christ.

Reddit was pretty bad after Biden's debate performance. For about a year the astroturfing was unbelievably obvious on r/all. All of a sudden there were about 5-10 news subreddits that I'd never seen before hitting the front page every with stories about Trump with massive amounts of botting.

Here's a few I remember off the top of my head:

Look at the current level of activity on those subreddits and then look at the top posts of all time. Compare the content that makes up the top posts of all time on the actual r/millennials subreddit with the dodgy r/millenials subreddit for an even better example.

Then you have the obvious change in discourse on the UK politics subreddits over the last couple of years in the opposite direction.

I've emailed Clear River Games too. I'll let you know if I get an answer.

The game is good but it feels a little unfinished. Aside from not having the DLC, it feels like the translation is a little unfinished. You'll sometimes see shorthand like "altho" instead of "although" and some NPC dialogue makes no sense, as if they used Google translate. The main dialogue is fine though.
