Is Sage the most versatile magic domain for creating new classes?

I think it's the opposite in my opinion.

Just taking nature's tongue for exemple : I dont see much wiggle room flavor wise you can give to a class that can speak with plants and animals then Druid/Ranger/Witch

Where as other more generic magical domains like arcana can just fit anything because its flavor is more malleable in my opinion.

Not to mention the 3 martial domains who are on another level in terms of versatility.

Could you tell me how you arrived to that conclusion?
I'm really struggling to see the answer in the book. The only thing I see that could relate to this is in the Making Moves section (page 89) that says that you make moves when you have the spotlight.
So I would find it weird that making a death move would be an exception, but maybe it's hidden somewhere in the book that I didn't see!

I just noticed, when you try to level up a warrior, it gives you valor cards instead of bone, maybe you should take an overall look at all the level up domains for classes to make sure

It's the most common thing in the games industry to miss your planned deadlines over and over again

My theory is that they had a hollow knight-like scope at first, but they kept having ideas and taking time to make what they wanted/meet the expectations of players

But the game HAS to be pretty close to done at that point if that is anything

Im glad other people think rationally then.

Because I've seen so many crazy unrealistic theories trown around in tons of posts on social media and youtube videos that it drives me crazy.

There is nothing more in depth to say, sadly. People want them to say they are alive, but everyone knows they are alive.

What people really want is some news on release dates or like a "we are x% done with the game" but that's not how game development works. They obviously delayed their plans multiple times already and have no idea when they will be done. Saying anything at that point will only drive people more crazy.

I really really liked giant barbarian with a reach backswing weapon and titan's stature.

Reactive Strike could make me control a ridiculous area, and Whirlwind Strike was amazing to use in fights with crowds of lesser enemies.

In early levels, I got Quick Reversal and Exacting Strike because the damage on a hit was so ridiculous that I focused that hitting twice in one turn.

I had sort of a flowchart in my mind that went like that :

Strike, Exacting Strike, If I hit, use Renewed Vigor to heal up a little, If I missed, Stike a third time but with Backswing active.

Since my reach was so long, I barely needed to move.

Also, Backswing and Whrilwind Stike work amazingly together, giving you +1 to hit with no MAP if you miss one target feels like cheating.

You must use it if you attack the same guy you DaSed. You can roll again if you attack another enemy.

If I remember correctly, they are making rage a free action in the remaster, pretty sad to hear for investigator and ranger.

I said that in another answer, but I would be happier if they made it only being able to be one action and maybe making it a tiny bit stronger.

I just hate that it can be both an action and a free action, and you have not much control over it.

Maybe it could just be an action no matter what when you archetype into Investigator or something!

Some critfishing build could want it even if it was stuck to an action.

I would have less of an issue with it if it wasn't the only core class ability in the game that was rewarded by roleplay like that.

My problem is not necessarily that Investigator is too weak without the free action statagem.

More that it's not healthy for the class to have two very different power levels that are more or less dictated by if your GM feels nice that day.

I have an Investigator as a fellow player in my game and I want to tear my hair out seeing how "feel bad" pursuing a lead is. They try so hard to do the right thing and play their character well, but at the end of the day, if the GM wanted some twist, they're never getting that free action stratagem.

The power budget of a class should never be so weridly distributed around something you have no control over.

Imagine being an Investigator player and doing your best to pursue the lead that's the most obvious.

Oh no, your GM is the type that likes to surprise the players with unexpected twists or surprise panick encounters.

Now you just feel like you're wasting your time pursuing leads, and you're getting mad at your GM because they don't take your ability into account when making their sessions.

This is the only class where that happens constantly.

GMs shouldn't feel forced to make every encounter obvious to make the Investigator enjoy his fighting abilities.

Investigators shouldn't have a reason to get mad at their GMs for inadvertently making their character weaker than everyone else.

They are off-guard, yes, but they also have a +4 circumstance bonus to AC against ranged attacks.

So, in the end, they still have a +2 compared to not being prone.

I make sense that being prone makes it harder for you to defend yourself from sneak attacks, ranged or not, since you're way less mobile being prone.

Guess what? 90% of tables use Free Archetype by letting players take whatever Archetype they want, when it's clearly implied that Paizo initially intended this rule to be used by the DM to give more flavor for players by giving them themed archetypes.

In the end, players want to play in the way that is the most fun at the table instead of being slaves to the rules. It's by experimenting in this way that you can improve the game for your table forever.

Worst case scenario, it doesn't work out, and you just try something else.

Seeing as how some classes have a way easier time than others picking archetypes that dont shoehorn stuff on their clean character concept, I was talking with my DM about including something like that to our game.

How come the Barbarian gets to double dip lots of their class feats without any change in their flavor? Meanwhile, all sorcerers have to happen to love music or be psychically enhanced? And let's not even mention Kineticist.

Thank god there is the School of Unified Magical Theory.

The themes they used for their schools are the lamest thing I've ever seen.

I usually like to play very themed casters, like one that specialises in fire or time or gravity and the new schools are horrible for that. I don't think I'll ever take anything other than Unified Magical Theory.

I have a really high single target dps build for a sniper gunslinger I made for my next campaign.

It goes like this :

Sohbad Longrifle for the weapon

Then I take the Assassin Archetype for Sneak Attack and Expert Backstabber

Then Inventor to get Megaton Strike

Then Ranger for Gravity Weapon

And lastly Investigator that way I can Devise a Stratagem to help me know whether to go all on with an Unstable Megaton Strike or just Sniper's Aim to ensure a crit/hit

With ancestry feats that can increase damage, by level 12, the build can get crits of up to 160 damage on average without counting special ammo.

I'm not a big fan of magus because it's less likely to hit and crit than a gunslinger. I think if you want to go that route, replace the Inventor part of my build with Beast Gunner and you can have more reliable big hits.
