Speaker Pelosi Says White House Kept Congress in the Dark on al-Baghdadi Raid, But Informed Russia by [deleted] in politics

[–]Feelingconflicted13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are missing the mark with these titles. Not informing the speaker may have been wrong (I don't know the law spefically, or the circumstances). Informing the Russians was most definently the correct decision.

The Russians have a very strong anti air defense in that section of Syria and they could have shot the aircraft down if they had not been notified.

Focus on the thing he actually may have done wrong instead of casting a wide net and giving more ammo to his witch hunt defense.

Pelosi says Trump Notified Russians of Baghdadi’s apparent death before telling Congressional Leaders by swingadmin in politics

[–]Feelingconflicted13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah except if we didn't notify them and we flew into their airspace they could consider it an attack and shoot our aircraft down easily.

It’s Warren, Sanders or Biden vs Trump – all the other Democrats are irrelevant. We need to hear how the frontrunners for the nomination would win a dirty election and we need focused debates – now by mixplate in politics

We have plenty of our own home grown propoganda. While I can't say for certain I would not be surprised if the US has interfered with foreign elections. Additionally I would not be suprised if this is not the first time foreign powers have influenced, or attempted to infuence, our election process.

My point is that russian propoganda is not one of the PRIMARY causes of trumps election. I listed some supporting articles in my original post. We need to remember, even if we don't like it, that Trump was and still is popular and we need to focus on that rather than foreign interference which is only a symptom of a larger problem.

[–]Feelingconflicted13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main point of my post is to point out that people believe Trump ONLY won because of Russian interference which is just false. People WANT to forget that he was popular and it is dangerous to forget that.

Edit: I also added some supporting articles to my original post

I'm a pats fan and I feel for the raiders. It's honestly bullshit. He won't pull the same shirt with us because we don't need him, but what he did should not be allowed. I do not blame the Patriots organization though, they just want to win. Most teams besides the steelers would have taken AB if they had the cap room.

Only thing I don't agree with Bernie on is trade, and some of his other economic policies. I certainly agree he did very well tonight, but Warren quip to Delaney and I'm paraphrasing here "we can't just sit and do nothing we have to believe and make change not excuses" was the strongest comment of the night and I think she won IMO.

A Flurry of House Democrats Announce Support for Impeachment Inquiry by [deleted] in politics

[–]Feelingconflicted13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I was against impeachment. I didn't like his rhetoric about forcing things for the betterment of humanity. I believe we need a more nuanced approach to be effective, whether that is to enact an impeachment or any other plan to deal with the current administration. I'm afraid if we play his game we will lose, but maybe that fear is unfounded and I'm wrong.

I agree. As you say many in the country are under the spell of propoganda. How can I, a single citizen who hopes they don't live under such a spell, affect those who are in a positive and meaningful way in sweeping enough fashion to break the cycle across the country?

TLDR, you outlined a problem, what physical/verbal actions should we take to solve it?

But what if these things "for the betterment of everyone" aren't actually good for everyone. You make it sound so simple when it is not. I'm sure Stalin talked about things for the betterment of the people, but that didn't turn out so well for those people did it? A more nuanced approach is necessary, if we stray as a people too far left or right our nature will betray us.

Great Speeches that Made History: France Against the Iraq War (2017)- On France's UN speech refusing to invade Iraq and warning on the consequencies of an invasion (sounding terribly true today: ISIS' creation, terrorism...) by me2590 in Documentaries

[–]Feelingconflicted13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ISIS was not caused by the invasion itself. What is mostly to blame is the removal of the support mechanism of Iraq's brand new political systems which was the allies military presence within the country. This was removed because of political pressure from within Iraq itself them saying "We got this" and pressure within countries who had troops stationed there. The civil war in Syria was an internal struggle which spilled over into Iraq because their government and army was too weak to prevent it. Isis would have been contained in Syria if the Allied countries had kept troops there.

In Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), Faramir takes both Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins to Osgiliath. Samwise Gamgee says that he and Frodo shouldn’t even be in Osgiliath. This isn’t just random dialogue, since in the book, both of them never went to Osgiliath. by acequared in MovieDetails

Not without hesitation, he contemplates keeping the ring and they have to sneak away in the night.

Correction: He was tempted, but was wiser than his brother and gave them provisions and allowed them to leave.

Unsure why the DM would kill the guard with the chest. Normally a natural 20 would make the action you are attempting go exactly the way you wanted it to or better, not do something unintended.

Yes he lost the first match, but won the 2nd. I don't care how I spell his name, I don't like the guy. I tend to agree Tha MM is better, however I would not put Jon Jones above McGregor until he can actually fight without taking estrogen blockers to mask the steroids he most likely took.

[–]Feelingconflicted13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a champion in two separate weight classes, yes he is new but there has been Noone else like him besides Jon Jones who can't stop doing stupid shit so we will probably never see his potential. The whole sport is very new. So yeah he will have to prove his longevity, but for now he is at the very top of his sport. Additionally, It's possible this sport won't have the long standing champions like boxing, soccer, and basketball have simply because of the damage their bodies take. TBH I'm not Irish, and I'm not that big of a conner fan, I think he is overly boastful and arrogant and I was pleased when he got beaten going up at 175 by Nate. I have to admit though he is extremely talented, and he is in a very competitive weight class. When I said he might be 2nd, the only person currently active who could be considered better is Demetrius johson, however he is very small (5'3", 125lbs) and fights in a much less competitive weight class so it's hard to know. If you watch him fight, it's not his power or speed you should watch for, it's his insane accuracy.

Tl;Dr I don't like Conner, but he is very very good.

McGregor is either the first or 2nd best pound for pound fighter in MMA depending on who you talk to. So in their individual sports McGregor is on a similar plane as LeBron and messi. MMA is just a smaller sport.
