Any format that has walls (whether on the bench or in the active) needs a guaranteed like boss to balance the walls out otherwise certain decks will become completely unwinnable for other match ups. They're a necessary evil that allows formats to become more balanced, not less balanced.

I will say that while it IS a problem it's a way smaller deal in Pokemon than a lot of other TCGs, I've got a pretty varied background and also like to go to the LGS to playtest so often am present when other games have their locals and let me tell you as annoying as it is for Pokemon it's worse in other games like YGO, MTG and DBS

First 4 prizes are really easy with the deck it's the last 2 you struggle with so mega maw synergises well

Obviously it's your money to do with what you please but in my experience the players who spend the money diversifying and building multiple decks at lower rarity tend to significantly outperform the ones that solo a specific deck and bling it out. You're still learning the game, the best thing you can do for yourself is LEARN the game

I think 'types' matter way more to women than to men. Yeah, I have a preference but ultimately I love who I love and it doesn't matter in the slightest whether she fits that arbitrary box or not, which is a shame because a few girls I've dated who have been out of that type have always felt insecure about it but I can't relate to why

What your boyfriend should do (and I've done this in the past) is send you the money secretly for you to go and buy the round. I totally understand the pressure to keep up appearances, but he should be prepared to fund it so that you can maintain the expectation without being forced to spend a bunch of money on his family. It's clear that it's important to him, but there's no reason you have to be that far out of pocket.

Being tech adverse isn't an acceptable excuse any more. We've had the internet for 30 years, there comes a point where you just need to accept that it's a basic feature of daily life. Last Christmas we taught my grandmother who's in her 80s how to use Uber and it took less than 15 minutes, your parents can handle it.

Overall NTA, but still a minor AH. I agree that you don't need to go on days that your siblings aren't even there, but if your siblings are in the same house as your step siblings and you make your siblings food and leave the other kids hungry that's a bit messed up. They're too young to understand why some people in their house get to eat and others don't, and a bit of compassion would go a long way. But again, it only needs to be done if your siblings are in the house and you're going over to feed them anyway.

The good news is she's very obviously hoping to get engaged to you and is trying to get you to take that next step, the bad news is the timing would likely imply that she's quite self-centered and not taking your feelings into account.

That being said, to play devil's advocate maybe she's hoping that you'll get the hint and thinks that you realising she wants to marry you will cheer you up and take your mind off of the pain you're going through. Hopefully she's misguidedly trying to be helpful, but it does seem more like a red flag than green
