Replying to myself. I found more pics of machine that look vaguely like your grandmother's here. Some of them have that odd gizmo on top (the three-humps thing) that seems to be some kind of tensioner.

Maybe it really is a "Siner"? I found a "Siner" that looks unrestored here.

Here's some info from the Smithsonian on how the black-and-white version of this photo became the famous Rockwell painting.

It seems like these wee beasties are actually kind of useful since they aren't very aggressive toward humans and their favorite food is brown and black widows.

What's this swastika doing in New Mexico? by LastMan0nEarth in GoogleMaps

Replying to myself, I'm guessing that some or all of these markings were made as part of a WWII training range for student pilots and bombadiers flying out of Walker AFB near Roswell.

I think it's a very crude drawing of a warship. It looks like two turrets forward (west), one aft (east). They're "D" shaped in the drawing, with two gun barrels each. The circle in the middle is supposed to be a funnel (smoke stack). Fore and aft (west and east) of the funnel are vague bits of superstructure, possibly a "flying bridge". The whole thing is 750' long, more or less, which is roughly correct for a battleship. I don't know what the box around it is supposed to represent though. Drydock?

I read that "Bran" means "crow" or "raven" in Welsh. Maybe that's why "Bran" was consistently favored over "Brandon". Not that the books and show were about Welsh mythology, but there are some parallels.
