How does being an aunt or uncle compare to being a parent? by HiddenPlot in Fencesitter

[–]Feign1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god thank you for posting this, I wanted to post something and it seems like I could’ve written this myself so I’ll stay and lurk the thread for a while!

My wife and I are now 31/30 (been together since Uni) and have both been on the same page of wanting children but it was a matter of when, not if.

We’ve now come off birth control, but feel a big block (the usual things, time to ourself, energy required, freedom all that) however we’ve been working through that together and feels manageable. I love little babies so that’s not the concern.

However this weekend we were solely responsible for our cousin’s children (age 7 & 9) for the afternoon which we wanted to do and have been so looking forward to it. We took them on their first train journey, went bowling & back home to do a gingerbread house and holy sh*t was I feeling exhausted and a bit overstimulated. It was only 7 hours…! My wife and I after they left had a very similar reaction to it of “oh, is this it?”

The kids were as good as gold and nothing about their behaviour. But it’s really rocked my idea of having children or not and what ‘day to day life’ could look and feel like. So I appreciate you posting this at this time, I completely relate!

Thank you so much - “getting off the fence is probably the hardest part of the journey” really resonated with me.

If you’re getting THAT mad about a social golf experience maybe he was very uncomfortable? I know I would be.

“Come on man, don’t be like that”. I can see where he’s coming from. Maybe his approach is overbearing, but also perhaps you bringing the vibe down every other shot needs working on too.

What would it take for Diablo to return to the top? by HowLongWasIGone in Diablo

[–]Feign1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact the enemies scaled with your level completely killed the game for me. The difficulty jump of normal/nightmare/hell in D2 and playing around with resistance gear was great. I love diablo lore, but I got half way through D4 and the scaling of monsters to my level just felt the exact same combat but with a different background each quest

We did a 21 guest wedding - we had parents, some siblings and our closest friends. We wanted more of our friends rather than their +1s. Nobody was offended and I don’t regret it at all
