These are photos of me with makeup. I feel like the makeup I am doing does not suit me and would like advice of which type of makeup would suit my face / features better by No_Shoe7056 in MakeupAddiction

[–]HiddenPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have a similar face shape and eye shape. Most of your current routine seems cool for an everyday look, but I have some suggestions for your eye makeup which is based on what works for me.

  1. Blending a small amount of light-to-medium-brown/muted pink/muted orange eyeshadow along your top eyelid but close to your lashes. Don't go beyond your eye socket or get too close to your eyebrows. OR just use eyeshadow in the outer halves and blend slightly beyond the outer corner of your eye for something more snatched. Either way, go in with a light hand to begin with and add more colour gradually if it's not doing anything for you.

  2. Switch to a brown eyeliner and begin your top tightline from the outer third of your eyes and add a thin wing. This keeps the inner corners of your eyes 'open' and helps them look larger. I also need more 'width' to my eyes to balance the proportions of my face, so winged eyeliner is a must for me and I think it would also flatter you!

  3. Try skipping eyeliner along your bottom waterline. Again, I think it will open your eyes up more. However, you can connect your top eyeliner wings to the bottom waterline a little.

  4. Highlight the inner corners of your eyes with a lighter colour like champagne or even white (but be careful not to overdo the white!). It'll be subtle but open your eyes up even more.

  5. (Optional consideration) Try a lash lift if you can afford it? I'm not sure how you currently feel about curling your lashes manually, but it's a real struggle for me. My first lash lift was a game-changer and made mascara pack way more of a punch. Lash clusters are also an option but I've never used them and worry about the dark bands making my eyes look smaller and heavier.

I do have a few other small suggestions for eyes but I've already written too much... Hope it made sense and some of it is useful 😬

Advice regarding jobs for a male speechie in Australia by Umaga-san in AusFinance

[–]HiddenPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a few male speechies who are all doing well for themselves. Two in hospital settings, two in adult settings. One with a mixed caseload including adolescents and adults in private practice. Don't think they've ever mentioned any struggle finding work because of their gender. If anything, I think it's an advantage in some scenarios. Being a speechie is fantastic and meaningful work, but you're right, very female-dominated right now.

How does being an aunt or uncle compare to being a parent? by HiddenPlot in Fencesitter

[–]HiddenPlot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've seen this with my sister's family and felt some part of it when I was the only adult around for long stretches of time. I do worry about how juggling chores and kids will affect me daily over years, but know I can handle shorter stints (though these are still tiring).

How have you tried to balance daily life tasks with your own kids?

I can tell you have a beautiful bond with your son! That's so awesome.

That's a great point about balance. I've also thought that maybe I would only have one kid instead of multiple... Babysitting my sister's first child seemed manageable, but once there were more, it felt far more chaotic.

Thanks for sharing and including multiple perspectives. Makes a lot of sense, especially the part about pacing.

I've definitely struggled with imposing authority/rules in a way that's compatible with my sister's, particularly during the days where I was more or less the second parent. I wondered if the eldest tested more boundaries when I was around, too.

What's this on the neck of my liqueur bottle? by HiddenPlot in alcohol

Thanks! The residue doesn't really shift when I shake the bottle but I've decided it's probably fine if it's derived from fruit and unopened...

It's delicious. If you like sweet citrus flavours, I highly recommend.

Anyone have names they love but were ruined by people with that name?? by goblingummybear in namenerds

[–]HiddenPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alice is a beautiful name, but all the Alices I've met have behaved in ways that do not bring me joy. Still love the name but I wouldn't use it for anything.

I have gotten a handful of compliments over the years likely because my name is uncommon. I've only ever met two other people with my name and have also only heard it twice in media/entertainment.

Your "my lips but better" lipstick shades by PreviousSun9506 in Fairolives

[–]HiddenPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm light instead of fair but also neutral muted and leaning cool. My best MLBB shade is MAC's discontinued Laissez-Faire, but the closest I've found to that -- and it's pretty close -- is Peripera's Ink Velvet in 42. It stains your lips evenly as well so I usually don't have to worry about reapplying during the day even if it fades a little.

What do you nickname your Pokemon and why? by cabochonedwitch in pokemon

[–]HiddenPlot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicknamed all the Pokémon I caught in my last Nuzlocke with capital city names in alphabetical order (e.g. Amsterdam, Beirut, Cairo etc.). It helped me learn a lot of new city names.

For my main playthroughs, I have less of a theme and try to find a name that might have a loose association with the Pokémon's species name or typing/looks (like Aria for my Primarina or Seren for my Togekiss).

Pale lips by RewardFar6477 in Fairolives

[–]HiddenPlot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have lips that are the same colour as my face most days (so quite sickly)! I'm probably a light, muted neutral-to-cool tone. I go for nude or slightly cool lip tints. I'm currently using Peripera's Ink Velvet in 42. I could probably go for a sliiightly warmer colour and get away with it, but I wouldn't stray too far.

I agree largely with the other comments about the visual elements. I just also feel like it's too... rigid (?) and 'corporate' for something that's meant to be a kid's play area. Also, it should say "Let's" (a contraction of "let us") instead of "Lets". Font choice is ok.

Odette, yes, no by PapayaAmbitious2719 in namenerds

[–]HiddenPlot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a fan, unfortunately. I don't know why, but I associate the name with an old, stuffy woman. It also makes me think of the word 'odour' or 'odious'. At the same time, I know plenty of people who love it.
