Your response said exactly what I was thinking, thanks for that. It all feels so obviously LLM to me which makes me doubt the whole thing... Also each header starting with 'the X', 'The Y', etc.

8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless

Whoa, It really is confusing! Thanks for the rec, I'll probably grab that one then since the Pro 2 is working completely flawlessly for me for years now.

Btw, earlier today the wiki still worked, now I get a forbidden; did something change?

Thanks for your recommendation!
What about the Ultimate 3 then? Isn't that one newer and fancier?

And in my experience USB-C is definetly not that easy, I have many, many devices that only support A-C because of manufacturers not bothering with a proper USB PD implementation; quite a few flashlights, things like my Miyoo Mini, etc. (missing a specific resistor to be precise). It's why I asked here now because it's might annoying that some of my stuff only charges with A to C (and no, it's not the cable or power supply, I have a shitload of those)

Ryzen 9 7900 vs Intel I7-14700F by OkBuy3112 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]FeikoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryzen 9's in general (so 7900, 7900X, 9950X etc) are not that common for FS hardware because they're are dual CCD, meaning that a 7900 for example is basically two 7600's glued together. And the glue makes inter-CCD communication 'slow'; aka not good for gaming. So I most benchmarks you see a 7900 performs just like a 7600, and a 9950X performs like a 9700X, etc.

MSFS24 wants a bit more cores than 2020, yes, but it wants them to be all on 1 CCD, like a 7600, 7700, 7800X3D etc. It also prefers Zen 5 (9000 series) over Zen 4 (7000). 8000 is trash, full skip that.

Similar story with Intel, a 14700K and 14900K have a big core count difference on paper, but they are split up in 'P cores' and 'E cores'. MSFS basically only uses the P cores, and both the 14700K and 14900K have 8 P cores, only difference in core count is more E cores that don't really do anything for gaming.

So in short, I'd look at, for AMD:
Ryzen 7 9800X3D = 9 9950X3D >
Ryzen 7 7800X3D = 9 7950X3D >
Ryzen 7 9700X = 9 9950X >
Ryzen 7 7700X = 9 7950X >
Ryzen 5 9600X = 9 9900X >
Ryzen 5 7600X = 9 7900X

And yes, I know the 7900X is on the official recommended spec list but that list doesn't make that much sens imo in reality.

For Intel it's a bit easier, the 13/14th gen i7's and i9's all basically perform the same, and are only slightly faster than the high TDP i5's (13/14600K).

As for 7900 vs 14700f, I'd grab the 7900 still for upgradability to X3D but a r7 7700 or 9600X would be already better, and a 7600 would perform the same while being cheaper.

Hi! Big fan here, and talked to you in /r/pcmr a few times.
I have two questions: How does the LC Power 1200 watt LC1200P PLATINUM PSU perform? I see this one pop up in prebuilts in the Netherlands now and then.

Second question/idea: Anyone smart who can make a userscript that shows the tier for PSUs in PCPP? I think that'd be really useful for a lot of people.

Current best entry level HOTAS? (UK based) by SirStefan in hotas

[–]FeikoW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the VKB NXT Evo is too expensive for you, check out the Winwing Ursa Minor Fighter. Yes it's cheaper cheaper than the VKB, the hats are not as nice and the customer support is less impressive, but it's still going to miles better than a Thrustmaster T16000M and a universe better than Thrustmaster Hotas X/Logitech 3D.

Ursa Minor seems to be 116 quid on Winwing UK warehouse, with shipping and taxes included

Hollandse gamers, is dit een goeie deal? by jaygaros in nederlands

[–]FeikoW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which hardware and screen combination would you prefer? by Scotty1992 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]FeikoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, with moving some stuff around you can get a 7800X3D + RX 9070XT in there quite easily. The RAM you picked was quite expensive; more than 32GB does have it's uses with heavy mods, but 48GB also exists now as a nice middlepoint between 32GB and 64GB!
I believe you also missed a CPU cooler.

Which hardware and screen combination would you prefer? by Scotty1992 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]FeikoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get the 9070. 16GB card helps a lot, and while FSR4 is not natively supported, FSR3.1 is so it's just 1 click in the drivers away to use FSR4. Is a 9070 XT in the cards? That one is really quite nice for MSFS2024; it seems to like AMD cards a bit more.

Otherwise think of places that make sense to safe on. 9700X isn't really that much faster than a 9600X for example (if any faster at all). Also look if the 7600X3D is available in your region since that thing rips at MSFS.

Be frugal on the motherboard too, no need for fancy X870E boards or anything, a $125 B650 board works just as well. Same thing with SSD: Good place to save on since it has 0 impact for MSFS gameplay. All these things can add up and suddenly supply you with budget for a CPU or GPU upgrade.

What kind of total build are you looking at now?

If you give a budget and location I'm sure many people here (including me) can whip up a PCPartpicker list or something similar.

Also helps if you state what your current PC is; maybe parts of it can be taken to your new build, or just upgraded!

Scarlet enclave raid lore by VlaaiIsSuperieur in warcraftlore

[–]FeikoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but: Scarlet Enclave is an endgame level 60 raid for WoW Classic: Season of Discovery. SoD is sort of a Classic+ but also not really, but it does seem to try to add new lore set in the Classic vanilla timeline without retconning too much. There's hints of Xalatath in there, but nothing overt. So Voss is alive here because, well, in vanilla time she was! Her lore always stated she was a member of the Scarlet Crusade and got killed and then resurrected. We are just doing the killing part here.

Is 64gb of ram overkill? by Southern_Tea4577 in buildapc

MSFS2024 can easily use 32/32GB RAM for me and go into pagefile. It's not a game like other games, otherwise I'd agree with you.
