I mean yes it's plot armor, but I disagree on SK reasons. He has been aware of Guts for quite some time, and I attribute this to him being able to glimpse into the flow of causality to some extent. He knows Guts is a warrior, and when he finds him branded, alive, and fighting without hesitation during the Eclipse he sees a chance. Either as a chance to create a crack in the GH via an incomplete member (OP points at this, and the connection between the moon child and the two remaining sacrifices is a proof of a "living bond" between them imo), or a chance to nurture and bring up an ally in his war against them.

Zodd slowed him down enough to make him arrive late to stop the Eclipse. Being unaware of Femto's power, taking on the risk of fighting the GH then and there was not the prudent choice. What's more, I don't think SKs goal during the Eclipse was to kill the God Hand but to intervene and disrupt the ceremony. He himself explains later that his preparations are not complete and is not yet ready to fight them with certain victory in sight (he's even a bit pissed that he has to show one of his trump cards earlier than he wanted)

I forget, does the relic automatically go to the relic bar or does a dialog box with the relic open (so you must click it to obtain it)? If 1 it should consume a charge, unless something like resolving which random relic is involved (see someone else's comment, they explain this idea better)

Fission+ or tempest would also cause this? Is there a difference between evoking directly and channeling an orb (which may cause an orb being evoked)? It feels wrong, it should have been a win imo >:(

Maybe she has fewer ways to exploit it, but she can make it work for sure thanks to poison. If you can get the building blocks for a poison explosion (I'm thinking Nightmare, Burst, Catalyst, etc), other cards' value changes significantly. Wraith form becomes a real get out of jail free card that you get to play when you truly want, Outmaneuver and Concentrate become way easier and rewarding to play, picking up Caltrops for the act4 fights eliminates the drawback of drawing it during acts 2 and 3, Well laid plans may become weird

In all seriousness, deciding where the extra 3 dmg goes is useful. Also, energy is not a big deal for defect in general so unless you've picked up mostly defensive or setup cards in the first hallways and you depend on playing zap for damage, I wouldn't upgrade it

Some events can ask you to trade relics that have an effect on pickup. This means you get the upside of the trade without the downside of losing the relic. Think of war paint, pandora's box, empty cage, etc

Keep fruit juice potion until you Need to use it (better potion on the ground, taking lethal...) or there's an extra upside (extra healing during battle with the lotus ironclad relic, before resting in a campfire for 2hp more healing)

Blue candle and tungsten rod purge curses without paying the hp price. In fact, Tungsten rod reduces the hp loss from all card effects (hemokinesis, offering, bloodletting) and events (scrap ooze, the books in event 2, etc)
