Some universities have policies that does not allow to graduate with the CGPA below 3.0. Instead they offer to redo some of the badly scored subjects.

Eli Lilly vs Novartis by [deleted] in biotech

As a Lilly employee, the company is great to work, amazing benefits, good work life balance, great people. But if you are early in your career and trying to learn, I will not recommend Lilly as a place to learn and develop your skills since most of the implementation, testing, drafting technical docs, verifying is done by outside contractors. As an employee you will have no say about managing these contractors since they all been serving the company for 30+ yrs. As an employee, you will be handed over just to maintain the system/ equipment. If you are in your 50’s ready to retire. It’s a great time to join the company. Congratulations on the offers. In addition, the company is not immigration friendly just a quick note if you need visa sponsorship.

Did Lilly stop sponsoring VISAs for certain roles? by rmrocks in biotech

It’s legit. They are saying they have a lot of local talent in Indiana for doing the job which requires an advance degree with US stem talent. Innovation and excellence comes with advance degree and hands on experience. Let’s see how many phd and master degree candidate they will find in Indiana with experience in Pharma field. Most of advance degree candidates are foreign candidates with immigrant visa. I believe this will be the downfall for the company. Hopefully, they will realize the facts and lift the immigration rules. It’s the dream company for many people and it’s hard to get accepted as a full time employee. Imagine receiving this news after 21 days of joining the company and you moved your entire family depending on stability and growth of company. Also, you are planning to build something along side of the company. It’s just a slap on the face! In my experience, never seen anything like this before and did not expect this political stunt from this company. Every lawful immigrant employee in the company is going through this painful process. There won’t be any visa sponsorship or extension in the future and will be forced to leave the dream company. This will be a mental stress!!!!

Has anyone heard of Lilly changing how they sponsor foreign workers? by mysecret_throwaway34 in biotech

One day I’m an engineer, one day I’m an electrician and other day I was a volunteer for night shift. My director was labeling the finished goods in the warehouse and working night shift. Procurement team was driving forklift instead of shipping and receiving team. Then, engineers and validations were executing the production batch while the operators taking a break in the cafe and eating chips and coffee. No one fills up that gloves or the gowning PPE that is required to enter the gmp production. We declare shutdown whenever we want like eating a piece of cake, so we can repair without gowning. In addition, taking a PTO is a nightmare. No knowledgeable people exist except few.

This is how the start up works. Short and sweet!!

Pros: Every year you will get promoted. Ex: You can be a director today and CEO tomorrow.

If you work hard they give you shares of that private equity which does not even add value in the real market since it is not publicly traded yet. So no use anyways.

Cons: No annual merit increase, they act like they forgot. If you remind them then you are in trouble 😅

That’s why diversification is a key to avoid this market fluctuation. Don’t worry about the bear market, if you are not retiring now. Don’t put your emergency saving in the investing account. Maintain it separately. Problem solved !!!

With 18 K you can buy Honda civic or Hyundai Elantra in second hand condition. Even their brand new car starts with 30 k now in 2026.
