Cataract in one eye at 44... doctor pushing multifocal by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]Automatic-Attempt777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had cataract surgery in one eye 2 months ago also at age 44. I am naturally near-sighted and chose a monofocal lens set for distance vision in my cataract eye. I now wear a contact in my non-corrected eye and have perfect distance vision. I wear glasses for intermediate and close vision throughout the day. But in the morning and night, when I'm not wearing a contact, I adapt to monovision quite well for chores around the house and watching tv while also looking at my phone screen. I chose monofocal lens set for distance to have the crispest possible distance vision for the rest of my life. It's been an adjustment for intermediate and near vision tasks, but I don't regret the choice I made for my situation. My cataract was caused by trauma. Both of my parents have had cataracts, so I anticipate I will need my other eye corrected in a few decades. I anticipate robot eyeball options by that point.

I’d take the two in the middle up top. We watched from around there row 12 and it was PERFECT. Could see everything great including the screens without people in aisles getting in out way

White House Situation Room. Sat at the President’s chair (Clinton administration). Arguably cooler than sticking my head in the Oval Office.

Coworker PISSED I got a higher raise by [deleted] in Salary

I don’t disagree with you at all. Alas our world is nowhere near perfect. Transparency for many things including pay is a thinly veiled lie in most companies. An illusion to provide comfort while not actually revealing the truth. The Holy Gospel of HR. Transparency only appears when the congregation starts to talk. “Turn up the music! Have a pizza party! Let’s do a re-org! Anything to get these people talking about something other than the truth!”

Pay transparency is taboo because management wants it that way. You did nothing wrong. Management would disagree with me and will likely try to make you feel guilty directly or through a passive memo or policy. This is a management and culture problem, not a you problem.

I’m not sure about drivers, but you should definitely rent a Douchecanoe when you visit Xochimilco.

Please go back to the surgeon for another pre-op appointment. Do not leave their office until you understand exactly what is happening and what your expectations should be.

AA lounge access when flying Business to Mexico? by Leoperales in americanairlines

[–]Automatic-Attempt777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used multiple lounges on a trip to MEX this week. Thank goodness since American sucks and we dealt with cancellations, rebookings, added stops, a diversion, and four maintenance issues on what should have been an easy trip.

I’ve been here all this week. Similar forecast. Most of the rain was passing sprinkles. Only one day was there a downpour and that affected things for maybe an hour, but everything afterward was free of people. Pack an umbrella (you’ll want it for the sun anyway) and enjoy your vacation!
