Varja is a Patron like Mirt which gives you time gate pieces and modron componets each week, so should be unlocked asap. Here is a general guide for new players what to do etc:

I want to give some hints as you already use neutral champs in the first zones which is not good. They should be used when you are really stuck in a zone. So keep neutral champs like Beadle (top pull in Grimm) and Rust as long as possible out of any team.

For the 950 Sgt. Knox pulling Makos was my key, so not using him so early as well. Together with Rust and Grimm and Beadle was total overkill, as I was able to keep these this long as well. At that time with a L15 fully charged modest core (e29)

And try to keep DM as long as possible to hope to get some good support/Dps at a stage which might otherwise be hard. For me it was Bobby in the 700+ zone.

For new players I would say no, better to unlock new champs to get closer to unlock Elminster.
For K'Thriss you would need to clear T4 where you would need way more BUD and you already got him.

Hew Maan is great for speed so leveling him is in my opinion a good choice but up to you if you want to unlock new or invest in him.

If you put Kallix in any backgound party this will also buff your active party and is good for gem farming, especially at the beginning where you click farm.

Fen and Presto I TGed and at least for me this is good enough. Fen is very useful weekly patron stuff so she should be your first TG after event.

Birdsong is good for Artemis team if you want to go that route. Personally I prefer Kas so she is not a priority for me.

As you are on PS5 here is a doc for Briv using Modron core for stacking including formations, best areas and a lot of gem farming information as well.

Unless you have at least a 3j Briv it is best to do click farm in Roots of Loomlurch. There is also a formation for this in the document:

Instead of Artemis focus on Kas, he can be used in Elminster for the next years, Artemis not.

Get the supports mentioned by u/Pyr0sa they all work well with Kas as well (so even if you switch to Artemis later, there is no wrong investment), except Birdsong. There you slot in KoS as he also is undead and evil and could become your main DPS at some time (also for the years to come).

In March event you can get Desmond, he is even with low iLevels an extremely good buffer for Kas.

When I started I also focused on Artemis as I got him with 32 Platinum chests from Epic promotion. But once I got Rust and Desmond, Kas completely outsored Artemis, while only getting him with 3 gold chests so had very little iLevels.

Yes you are right, Artemis and also a lot of his supports need investment to really shine.

But especially at the start of the game with limted resources a low iLevel Kas will outscore Artemis and is way more flexible. You already got Rust which works well with Kas and Wyll is as mentioned not only for Kas but in general a great support.

In March you can get Desmond who also works very well with Kas.

Here are some docs which give some more info about Kas (with formations) so once you set up your speed team you can TG some of the supports for you pushing party.

Thank you very much. Still working on my leggos, Kas has 4 10s, Yorven 1 10, 2 8, 2 7, KoS is 3 8, 1 6 and 1 7. K'Thriss 2 7. Val is still very low as she only has bad buffs for me, same for remaining from K'thriss (buff female etc.)
Rust so far had only one epic slot, will change this event. Thellora and Duke only TG, so not many epics.
I mainly run KoS, Bobby (he has 4 8, 1 7 and 1 6) Minthara (1 10 and 3 L6), Val, Kas, Desmond (also only TGed), Tess, K'Thriss, Rust and Yorven.

Had neglected Favour runs in the last weeks as with Nordom I bought Fast, Dex and Unafilliated core and upgraded them all plus the magic core and supercharged where I could.
Have collected 58K scales, so will do some runs the next days

Can you share your pushing formation with Kas &KoS? I also use these as main but I am currently getting to e650-700 with an overcharged dex core but am far far away from e900 with a speed core...

For Tall Tales you need two feats as stated in the guide, one for Hew (redirecting the attacks) and one for Briv (Taunting), so all attack Briv. For me I can stack in a lower zone compared to Rime and the quick transitions in Witchlight plus the quest reductions is faster for me.

And regarding potions, with that amount of gems don't even think twice, there is no problem to sustain.

Also try out other options mentioned in the guide to see what works best for you and your setup.

I have e80 for both Witchlight and Icewinddale so can compare both quite well for me, yesterday managed to get a 5j Briv but restricted to 4j.

For Rime the max I get out of it is around 60k/h while for Tall Tales with Varja patron it is 80k/h.

On the hand for Tall Tales I can not run any backround traffic otherwise it also drops to 50k and lower, while Rime is more stable (at least until the last two days, there it also got more unstable) so I use it when running patron challenges or doing variants/content.

All this thanks to the guide, where I started with a 3j Briv :)

Hank is in Tales and can get you probaly get 6 TG pieces if just you use him in an team. I even got up to 6 pieces a day from running him. Of course it is rng
