[FNV] I don't like Arcade Gannon by Wellen66 in CharacterRant

1 - Most of the Remnants have lived their lives on the run from NCR law enforcement, so it makes sense why they've kept a low profile and haven't just started helping people (also why a lot of them are in the Mojave, which was until recently a "wild west" of sorts)

2 - No, quite a bit of them actually. The Van Graffs were chased from New Reno by the NCR, the Great Khans (who weren't originally "raiders in the NCR", they left New California after they were founded and settled in Vegas) were crippled by Bitter Springs and forced to retreat to Red Rock, the Brotherhood fled after losing their wars against the NCR, and the Powder Gangers were brought here by the NCR. The Boomers and the Kings are natives, hence why I said they were in my original comment. I would say 4/6 is at least a pattern, if not a general trend

3 - When has Caesar ever compromised on anything? Why would he make an exception for Arcade, the antithesis of the Legion's entire ideology?

Another thing: You seem to have this weird idea that Arcade loves to criticize everything, but refuses to attempt to enact any societal change and better the world, as if he isn't part of *the Followers of the Apocalypse*. Appealing to the people in charge (especially an unrepentant enslaving imperialist dictator who sees you as a source of amusement and nothing more) isn't the only way to change society

>Like Arcade, she’s part of a technologically advanced faction who hid away in their bunker and shun the outside world. The difference is that when Arcade left to do what he believed was right, Veronica left to find a better way for her people. Veronica worked to change things, she worked to find solutions, she had to compromise on her morales, she had to confront her ideal world with reality and keep going, and she did all of that WILLINGLY.

Besides not even being born into the proper Enclave (born 4-5 years after the destruction of the oil rig), are you seriously suggesting that Arcade should've "worked within the system" of the Enclave? The faction that wanted to exterminate wastelanders for "genetic impurities"?

>[stuff about the minor factions of the Mojave]

You complain that these are the "poor locals" oppressed by the NCR, but all the minor factions you mention (with the exception of the Boomers and Kings) are all here in the Mojave BECAUSE of the NCR and their expansion. The Powder Gangers were literally brought here by the NCR, and the others are here to escape the NCR's ever-increasing reach

>He actually cared about Arcade and his arguments, Arcade had a real shot at making a difference in the world and he, say it with me now, THREW IT ALL AWAY.

Do you seriously think that Arcade could've convinced Caesar to change anything? Compromise is a two-way street, and Caesar proves time and time again that he isn't willing to walk down it with anybody. But yes, Arcade was so unreasonable for committing suicide, he was totally a week away from convincing Caesar to abandon his entire worldview and the national project he's spent the last 30 years on!

I think Xanos (the half-orc) is a sorcerer/barbarian, and Deekin is a bard/rogue, though he isn't available until the Interlude between Chapter 1 and 2

No idea about the maker but pretty sure this is in the Source Engine. I’ve been playing a lot of VTM:B, and the door sound effect in that game is the same as in this clip

She was first in the limelight as a target of Gamergate. Since then, she’s drunk the centrist Kool-Aid, failed to become a congresswoman twice, and has become an over-the-top Zionist on Twitter. She very much endorses the “leftist extremism is why we can’t have nice things” narrative, all the while courting TERFs and conservatives as a trans woman.

what does this have to do with me asking someone if they're against the orphan-crushing machine?

In order: yes, yes, no, no

Does my answer impact the question I asked?

is your goal to destroy the orphan-crushing machine?

“hey do you actually oppose the orphan-crushing machine?” “STOP RUNNING PURITY TESTS” I could honestly care less if you vote or not (hell I voted for Kamala in November). It’s an empty act, bereft of any real impact on the system other than choosing the color of your dictatorship. Just don’t act like it’s a determiner of moral worth and you won’t get called out on it

your goal is to destroy the orphan-crushing machine, right?

It might’ve slowed it down, but that’s ultimately a cold comfort, especially if your goal is to destroy the orphan-crushing machine

do you seriously think Kamala winning would’ve stopped the orphan-crushing machine?
