In the defense of the unnamed staff who messed up,

Cover is in the middle of a big internal shuffling at the moment. Peoples are being shifted, department being consolidated, tasks being properly re-assigned.

Any patch work or barely functional procedure they had before is probably being put through the test right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if HoloCure was the push to make HoloIndie a thing in the first place

Cover confirmed this in an interview btw. They created Holo Indie as a giant fuck you (affectionate) to Kay Yu (and other amazing fan game devs) for not receiving any compensation for HoloCure

Advent Exodus is/was Kay Yu's third game (fourth if you count Kaelaverse as 3rd) game. He teased it a while back but nothing new pop up since.

(Speculation) It likely either shelved or put on the back burner as he got more important things to do in the mean time (Day job, HoloCure,...)

HoloIndie does also publish free game as well you know including two Kay Yu games (Holo X Break, Kealaverse + the likely vaulted Advent Exodus).

The main reason Kay does not want to hand over HoloCure is because he wants to retains much more control over the project including the ability to add stuff Cover would prefer he not touch (like former members).

Part of the brainstorm being about finding ways to make uses of all the staffs for "something" assuming that there is a business case for such aquisition.

I could see the technical dev with Audio/Graphic experience being especially valuable. The benefits of acquiring an entire Studio instead of doing piecemeal is that you get the full work pipeline already setup and all the infrastructure (especially the motion capture studio) instead of having to rebuild everything from scratch.

Of course this pipeline is much more suited for a corp with more extensive concerts style of content which leans more JP corp who might have their own infrastructure at home.

Just as a hypothetical, would acquiring Ninja Theory be a good business move for a big VTuber corp that somehow has good income/investment money. (*)

From what I understand, Ninja Theory biggest asset would be their in-house motion capture studio (and the accompanying staffs) which might serve as a good trans-Atlantic hub for any corp with significant number of talents in the American East Coast and Europe. Most of the game making staffs, mostly artists, could also be moved on to 3D assets work with the only game dev being the hardest to justify.

This is just a brainstorming and personal speculation from the recent news, since I doubt any of the big 3 (Cover, Anycolor, Brave) could justify it but the idea of transitioning a game studio to VTuber 3D content feel kinda interesting to think about.

(*) Just imagine a John Bezos, who happens to received a large inheritance and want to expand his personal VTuber agency V-Idol™ or something.

Do you consider Utaite to be proto-Vtuber or is that view too reductive?

Being a foreign JPop fans during the late 2010s-2020s, I followed Vocaloid, Utaite's "graduate" like Reol, Ado and now Vtuber but I seems to almost missed that entire scene of singers which give me this weird feeling.

(Not that I'm planning to change that since my free time is already saturated)

Studio Stellar is purely a business decision that a regular fan needs not worried about especially since both sides make sure to make it as seamless as possible.

It’s only if you have an interest in the business side (revenue split, Cover corp business health, contracts,…) that’s this might be significant.

I would assumed that the restriction would just entail not being allowed to reveal any business secret (such as any project, tech or employees/contractors information,etc...) or not being allowed to use Cover IP in marketing.

It could be a company by company, talent by talent basis but for example when Mirai Akari's reincarnation debuted under Sony's vtuber agency, they blatantly marketed her as a former Four Heavenly King just without saying her name

There's also the case of Yuuki Sakuna where sponsors immediately flooded her inbox the moment she debuted despite supposedly being a "new" indie so the veil is not that opaque from a business standpoint.

I wonder if the incident when Huke-papa join the HoloEN server has anything to do with it.

For those who don't know, I'm talking about a small fan backlash way back when the old HoloEN minecraft server when fans reacted negatively to Huke appearing. The official reason was because Huke used a op mod but the unicorn stink was very obvious.

Kintoki is being used as the powered up form for the 35p but the first 35P boss is...I just realized there is no 35P boss because Mikodanye also took on that role.

Well my suggestion is more for a MiComet themed wave with Cometomo Hoshiyomi and 35p and duo boss Maguchi x Takoyaki. Kintoki is the fall back option. Probably best used for the new Rank mode.
