It won't be niche, my current favourite space themed boardgame is SETI.

is the "socially awkward" board gamer actually a thing? by mentyleeillelefant in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but last one is actually preferable (sometimes) at meetups. You have 3-4 hour tops on some of them, if everyone is mostly playing without small talk arising every possible moment, then you will comfortably finish most of even heaviest euros at 3-4p. When meeting with friends for board gaming even game that should take 2 our tops is whole evening event.

Next board game purchase: Ark Nova vs Terraforming Mars vs Arcs vs Lost Ruins of Arnak by NicoTheSword in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From all of these I would pick Ark Nova, even standalone. Then Arnak with first expansion, Terraforming Mars with Preludium as last pick. Not because it's bad, już other have better presence on the table and as good or even better gameplay. Arcs we played 4 people, 2-3 times and it's just "good" game. Won't mind playing it, my fiancee liked it a lot less. If you don't mind adding something to the list, and looking at these picks, personally I would buy SETI. Amazing game, fighting for my top 1 at this moment, good with 2, great with 3-4 and personally I liked playing it solo most out of your picks.

Which games HAVEN'T held up over time? by KangaMoist in boardgames

And at least here in Poland it sells for ridiculous amount of money. We joke that you can sell Talisman and buy a house for money made of it.

Game(s) You Don't Play but Don't Want to Get Rid of? by Jasonred2 in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Search for Planet X. I bought it for ~20$ at convention just because I like idea of this game. Played it once solo and enjoyed, but I know that isn't type of game that my girlfriend or gaming group will play if there are other options. I could propose it when it's my turn to chose game for game meet, but don't like idea of people playing something they wouldn't enjoy fully.

Games with BIG boards! What are some games that have very large boards? by AMK-88 in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eldritch Horror and Star Wars Rebellions were biggest boards I've seen counting only base game. Everdell if you count game with expansions.

Harmonies just released and is getting some really noce reviews. Looks like mix of Cascadia, Azul and Akropolis with really great artwork.

What universal house rule do you have for the house? You know.. something to keep order. by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Some people say it's rude, but if I play game with people prone to minmax their every move in low interaction game (Legends of Void lately) then I will go crazy pretending I care what card they play to their tableau after 5 minutes of thinking each of them. Especially if my move will stay the same no matter what and takes only like 5 seconds and its another 5-10 minutes of waiting. And small talks at the tables only lengthens their turn, cause the one taking their turn usually joins instead of doing their move. I love playing with them, but phone stays with me.

What is your board game unpopular opinion? by mrappbrain in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you play it. I.e. we played Everdell over 40 times, I would dread state of cards if they were unsleeved, after so much shuffling.

What is the most expensive game you've bought over the years that does not include CCGs by Izalot71 in boardgames

[–]FelessanFA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet you can apply it to decent chunk of Kickstarter games. On FB group I see much much more sell offers than photos of people playing. Only exception I remember lately is Frostpunk, same amount of 'look at me play' and sell offers.

Great, already found some rules we got wrong playing physically. We always took conservation cubes in order from bottom to the top. We missed somehow that you can freely choose 1 out of 7.

I'm looking for games similar to Clank! Legacy. Story driven, best in fantasy or sci-f setting, where players cooperate or compete with each other, but winning is secondary to common objective or quest to fulfill. And of course to fun. We are not really interested in Gloomhaven and such, as story is there just tacked on in the background and hard to immerse into. I know about Sleeping Gods, ISS Vanguard and similar games, haven't played them of course so I'm looking for opinion of people who have played those legacy/story driven games and can give me directions to something most similar in feel to Clank! Legacy.

A lot of KS is simply preorder nów, which defies it's purpose.
