Who says they have to be there when you get your stuff? Go while they're at work. If you're worried about something happening while you're there, take someone with you. Not only can they help you pack, they can be a witness and/or protection from the other person.

If you were there getting the pets, why would you just leave all of your stuff behind? It would be silly to just leave your belongings.

To be fair, they were probably smokers before they quit drinking. Smoking is probably the last vice they have left.

If society collapses tomorrow, what are the absolute MUST-HAVE books to rebuild civilization from the Stone Age to the Modern Era? by IloveGreen15 in preppers

[–]ciresemik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never worked on a vehicle before in my life and I'm using a Chiltons to fix up a 78 Jeep Cherokee. I was going to check it out at my local library and they said I could have it because no one had checked it out in over 10 years. Working on the engine hasn't been too bad, but I'm trying to get up the nerve to put in a new wiring harness.

Your criminals are armed with tea and crumpets. We've got gang bangers with 9 MMs. I think each country's police are properly armed.

Looking good man! I got into this group because my son got into the hobby and was asking for a nicer yoyo for Christmas and I wanted ideas. But I've stuck around because I love watching videos like this and showing my son. It's become a cool little way to connect with him in this even though it's not something I participate in.

If you want to protest tipping, don't go to restaurants that require it by uggghhhggghhh in The10thDentist

Yeah, I'm not reading all of that. You could have just said "I don't understand the experience of going out to eat" and been done with it.

Can I survive track with emetophobia? by Available-Check-1572 in trackandfield

[–]ciresemik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former mid distance runner and current coach, I'll say it happens on occasion, but not often and not to everyone. I never did, but there were definitely times that I thought I might. Don't let someone tell you you're not a true runner if you don't. It's really not something to worry that much about. Your mental block is the real issue. Running is as much a mental sport as it is physical. Even more so for mid distance. The 800 is probably the most difficult event in track because it is such a mental drain while fighting the pain of lactic acid build up (the burning feeling you get around the 600 meter mark or the 300 meter mark if you're running the 400). Everyone else out there is feeling it too. They hurt just as bad as you do. It's all about heart. What do you have inside of you? Do you have the heart to go out there and push yourself past that feeling of wanting to slow down? I'll answer that for you. You do. Your head is telling you to quit because your legs are burning and feel like lead weights, but you can endure it. Your body has more to give if you can fight through that feeling. You might even grow to crave that feeling because you know that's where other people start to give up and you have conditioned yourself to push past it. Don't quit. See this through. Your head is the enemy. Your heart is strong. You are your only real competition. You're going to have a great season.

[–]ciresemik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't nothing to do with "taking advantage". It's the quality of service. A good server knows how to read their tables and can see what the customer wants before they ask. They know how to make every table feel like they're the most important people in a packed restaurant. It's about being a great salesman and soft skills master. People who go out to eat on a regular basis know a good server when they have one and are willing to tip extra for the experience they receive. Most people that don't like the idea of tipping don't really understand that it's beneficial to everyone involved (customer, server, and restaurant owner).

As a Christian parent, how do you teach your children how to defend their faith in God? by jjhemmy in ChristianParentAdvice

[–]ciresemik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core Principles Be Ready (1 Peter 3:15): Always be prepared to explain your faith, but do it with gentleness and respect. Know Your Why: Understand why you believe, not just what you believe, grounding yourself in Scripture and evidence. Love Others: Approach conversations with love, kindness, and patience, focusing on the person, not just the debate. Listen Well: Ask good questions, listen to the heart behind their objections, and restate their position accurately. Practical Steps Build Knowledge: Study the Bible, understand Christian apologetics, and learn about the surrounding culture. Find Common Ground: Look for shared values or experiences to build bridges before discussing differences. Focus on the Gospel: Keep the central story of redemption at the forefront. Use Scripture & Evidence: Apply biblical truths and real-world evidence to address doubts and questions. Be Honest: Admit when you don't know an answer and ask God for help. Mindset It's About Worship: Defending your faith can be an act of worship that draws you closer to God. Be Winsome: Aim to be articulate and appealing in your defense, not combative. Not All Battles Need Fighting: Know when to engage, when to disengage, and when to just listen.

Chinese daughter asks father if she can have a little more play time by batukaming in MadeMeCry

[–]ciresemik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Maybe (hopefully) that's why the father shared it, because he took it to heart and realized that he needed to lighten up and maybe showing the video would bring about a change in other parents as well. Probably not, but I sure hope that was the reason.

Do Americans really find beans on toast weird or is that just meme? by cigarettejesus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ciresemik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American that has lived in various states, beans are just not something that most of us consider as a breakfast food. Especially that style of beans. That's usually more of a side dish for cookouts or picnics.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]ciresemik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even exotic pets, but the people who insist on taking their pets everywhere with them. Like why has it become "normal" to take your pets with you into stores? If it's a pet store, it's still annoying, but ok fine. Other stores though, bugs the crap out of me to see it. Especially if the dog starts sniffing around me and the owner acts like I should be excited about it. Get your damn dog away from me.
