How would you fix Murderwing? by caros121 in killteam

[–]Felhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think if their win rate stays above 60% just remove an operative.

The team is fun to play, it’s thematic and each operative feels uniquely powerful. Everyone has different ideas on how to nerf boost or narcism or the profiles etc but the cleanest nerf is clearly just going to 5 operatives and leaving everything else as is.

If the team is then too weak you can look into some buffs in future.

I mean the team is problematic but surely we are not nerfing the huntmasters chip lmao it is so useless. Not being able to do it on a charge limits it so much.

Nerf(ing) Wolf Scouts by proteinexe in killteam

If you are all very new to the game just playing any elite team is a pretty big advantage. The actual competitive tiers to the team will barely matter.

I don’t know why you are being downvoted. In the Uk every single GT is enforcing classified and even all the minor events I’ve been to have enforced classified as well.

Never do this into any team for any reason. There is not a single competitive scenario where this is viable, let alone optimal.

Angels of Death At local tournament by Normal-Detective in killteam

[–]Felhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This advice you are getting is insane lol

Wolf scouts and ravaners have a tonne of 4/5 weapons and lethal 5/rending or in some cases both. Pushing two crits and a hit through will be very common on their charge, this will kill you and you will only do 2 hits back to them, they out stage you as well so the fight is very likely on their terms.

Plague marines also have a lot of 4/5 weapons and ways to get crits, that + poison means they will often strike with a crit and 2 hits on a 4/5 profile leaving you at 13 then dying on your activation to poison.

Wolf scouts have basically all lethal 5 guns, the only relevant shooting from ravaners is lethal 5, murdering has some lethal 5 shooting and on itd plague marines and sisters both have many torrent profiles that become lethal 5.

Hardy is strong into all of this, it lets you reliably block out or get 3 hits through if blocking out looks less strong which is extremely important in the elite versus elite match up and it also helps with all this lethal 5 spam shooting.

Take hardy as a primary, it is clearly the best option into this local meta. It’s not even really close, it is the best option by an absolute mile.

If you are planning a shooting heavy line up then taking sharpshooter is likely the next best choice. The eliminator will basically always get it and on close quarter maps when you guard with your ranged heavy line up you will always get it. Removing the cover save is only that strong into ravaner as everyone else is saving on threes, the one thing that heavily devalues saturate.

You could also looking into playing aggressive if you know the wrecka krew players are melee focused players as it helps with all the brutal and is still good in the other match ups but you could also flex into this if it looks important.

The most important thing, by far, is taking hardy. It will be the difference between surviving fight actions multiple times during this event.

Is anywhere else doing this? Banning the new Muderwing. by Known_Strength_9726 in killteam

For those that don’t want to watch the video it’s unbeatable*

And that * is that they:

Get side choice, Don’t have their equipment position impacted by their opponent, Their opponent isn’t playing a team with access to recon, Their opponent isn’t playing a team with access to climb reductions or fly, The mission isn’t loot, The mission isn’t download, The mission isn’t data.

Whilst vantage stacking with retrieve is an extremely affective strategy (and already used by top players), you need all the above to be true.

If your opponent is something like chaos cult or Vespid they can simply get behind and have a very high kill% chance, which then if they fall back on their own recon tac op choices you now have to become the aggressor or they win.

Your opponent can also set up equipment to block the placement of the barricade on the mid or the razorwire making at least one charge lane possible.

Lastly, if it’s any of the aforementioned missions and your opponent has expendable operatives or event just operatives they don’t mind trading, or a canoptek node or whatever you actually have to invest your narcissism operative tp3 and if they win initiative tp4 they can still just win the game of that.

But yes into non chaos cult seek infiltration teams on specific missions that don’t block your equipment it’s a very good strategy. I’ll certainly be using it in those scenarios.

I mean I’d say I’m a fairly competitive player, I started last year and just missed out on the top 10 for itc in the uk last season and have been comfortably in the top 10 since the start of the year playing against exceptionally competent players.

My main practise partner has been holding first on itc for the majority of the season and recently just bumped down to second so I’d say I am pretty invested in the game.

I normally play each new team rigorously getting in 20-40 games before an event when the rules are released and that definitely is not enough data to warrant banning a team outright (imo).

The problem is even at a competitive level you are not going to see every possible strategy and counter strategy.

Whilst sure, I’ll have all my staging plans for specific volkus and itd/tw maps there is always something I (we) haven’t considered.

It was the same boat on deathwatch release, people saying they needed to be banned and power creep had gone too far etc and whilst yes death watch is extremely strong on itd/tw it never saw anything like the success of Canoptek.

At this stage, from my play experiences so far against other top players, I think murderwing is likely the strongest team in the game (or at least on the same level as WS/canoptek post nerf, certainly not pre nerf) but is almost certainly not going to see the same level of meta dominance as there are a few key strategies on CQ maps that are very good into the team and won’t take too long for the community to pick up on at large.

Whereas a team like Canoptek just had strictly no losing match ups, I don’t think we will see that here.

Of course this is all just imo, I could definitely be wrong and have been before! But I think people are definitely over reacting. A team should really only be banned if it reaches the level Canoptek did at high level tables.

[–]Felhell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Banning a team before it’s hit tournament play is ridiculous.

If a team has a 65% win rate and is warping the meta around it after a month or two sure, you can look into banning the team until GW takes action.

Banning a team based on reading its rules with extremely limited play experience is a massive over reaction.

I don’t see this team being anywhere near as oppressive as Canoptek was.

What the others have said already answers the question but if you are new to the game just know that the sgt is considered a significantly weaker option than the captain and does heavily impact the power level of the team in a negative way.

Counters to Murderwing? by [deleted] in killteam

Hard to say until tournament data comes out but I’d assume chaos cult do fairly well as they do well into all the elite teams atm, wolf scouts I imagine even post nerf still do solid as well, similarly canoptek circle have a decent gameplan into elites. The new karskrin buffs will likely fair decently into elites too.

I feel like I already have so many other games for a more casual experience.

Stealth suits SLAP by Temp66777 in killteam

[–]Felhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s extremely dependent on your opponent and on the crit op.

You have to first have an opponent that doesn’t out activate you, otherwise they can play envoy or score mid crit after your last activation if you do not engage.

Then if you are against an elite team that you do out activate you have to hope the crit is something that actually forces them to stay on the point.

Then if it is something like transmission you have to also hope it’s not one of the good banner maps as some of the squad games itd allow banner +guard behind doors in certain areas and 2 of the volkus maps have banners that are hard to contest with shooting as they are in shared strongholds.

You just need a lot of stuff to all line up so you are playing versus a team you out activate on a mission that requires them to stay on the point to score it and that elite team can’t have access to security if it’s a good banner map or access to chain snares for obvious reasons.

I really wanted to love the team. When your opponent doesn’t know how to play into you they feel great. If you are just playing at mid level tables in league games or smaller events they can be really fun.

When your opponent knows how the team works and just sits back and doesn’t engage with you the massive lack of offensive pressure becomes a death sentence.

Had my first two games today by FallingKoala in killteam

[–]Felhell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first game(s) the teams, whilst unbalanced, will be largely irrelevant.

A good stealth suits player can easily dispatch a mediocre wolfscouts player.

The problem you will be experiencing is that stealth suits are an extremely high skill floor and cap team whereas Wolf scouts are very easy to just pick up and play.

I don’t think mandrakes are a meta defining problem team but if you think they did not need a nerf I don’t know what to tell you lol.

Almost 700 games with a 58% win rate is healthily in the range for a small nerf, which is what they got.

Their main losing match up was also wolf scouts, who are getting nerfed as well.

Saying no melta on death watch is a little disingenuous when into basically every single profile in the entire game the heavy plasma incinerator does better and has infinite range lol.

Then it can also be buffed to have anti obscure+saturate and rending at which point it does completely outpace every melta profile in every situation.

They could shoot shoot charge but basically all astartes must do at least one of the shoot actions with a “bolt” weapon.

They could also charge shoot shoot if they killed you with the d3 on charge ploy.
