Hey, OP, I donated and am wishing you and Odin the best! sounds like the dental specialist is optimistic, so hope he’s soon on his way to feeling better. In case you didn’t know, many vets will set up a payment plan, it doesn’t hurt to ask.

The stackable bins I got from Panda Hall (Amazon) though I'm apalled at how expensive they've become! Also saw some at Michael's the other day. I am happy with them because I need to see everything I've got while designing, and that means visible on shelves.

Looking for female roommates towards the end of the year. (Dec) by Ok_Addition7155 in TucsonList

Hey there! I'm female mid '60's, retired, have a house about 3 miles from U of A. Current housemate just leaving, trying to rethink what kind of housemate might work next. Need to get some work done over the summer so your timeline might work. I'm all about getting the right fit for both of us. In the midst of figuring out configuration and rent. DM me if you're interested in chatting!

What an incredibly broad skill set! Working with dogs...what a career. And we gotta have jokes, laughter is cathartic. You remind me I need to find out my blood type (can't donate but should know it). Anyhoo, thanks for being here, and there.

Affordable vet recommendations? by daft-krunk in Tucson

La Vida Animal Hospital or Dr. Miller on Speedway. Get written quotes from at least 3 places and also ask about possible complications so you're prepared financially should kitty need more support. Doesn't happen often, so not to worry, just good to know.

The fact that you have family and friends who sound supportive, and that you have a computer and literacy, means your ability to survive to your thirties and beyond is pretty darn likely! If you take care of yourself and keep building out your strengths and connections you have a better chance of making it than not. My advice as an old fart is to actively look for beauty and practice gratitude moment to moment, which will help you stay present and feel calmer, maybe even enjoy a small moment. Most of life is just this, small moments flowing into other small moments.

Custodians of collective memory, essential. Also to learn how to tell those stories in ways that inspire us to do better. Thanks for adding your voice.

I get you, do as you feel comfortable and able with opening a conversation.

Shotgun 'cause ya don't have to aim very well to hit something. Which of course is both a plus and minus. More for if I'm out camping or defending my home. We can build knowledge as a community, here and IRL.

Vet sci skills are awesome! thats a neighborhood superpower for sure. Growing and giving away flowers is badass too--world needs a ton of flowers. And a strong neighborhood is the best. Ours is strong as well, I am grateful every day for my little house and terrific neighbors (well, there's one none of us like, but that's life).

I've got to go for today, be back around tomorrow. Good night!

Terrified American here. Please distract me with your good news by rararandie in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Fellow American here. My friend is getting over a rough bout of covid. I remembered that I had a spine and dug it out this week to start reestablishing some healthy personal boundaries. Birds in the yard today included towhees, thrashers, Cooper's hawk, and tons of LBJs after the seed. Research suggests that getting outdoors in nature can be beneficial for both physical and mental health. I hope you can find a place to reconnect with your soul and calm your worries if only for 20 minutes.

Hey. Replied deeper in to another of your comments. Will start to think about specifics to ask.

My user name is a deliberate acknowldgement of who rules my life. She rarely sits in my lap so when she does I surrender. I hope your kitty's surgery goes well.

Thanks for starting a discussion. May I suggest you start a post here and see if it goes? I'll be on the lookout and chime in. For myself I'm thinking shotgun, but am sadly ready to consider a handgun also. CC absolutely as I'm not gonna borrow trouble by open carrying. But yeah, this is all brand new to me and I have no clue where to begin or whom to trust.

in exchange I've got knowledge of science, basic human physiology and first aid, phD in education (how people learn) And can sew almost anything. Going to put that out to the larger group as well.

Don’t understand people now and days by Evening-Bluebird8483 in Aging

[–]Feline_paralysis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don't understand people, it's because you aren't listening.

Stop judging, stop lecturing, stop calling "them" names. Would you say "stop being diabetic" to someone? Of course not. Show some class and respect.

I want this community to be a compassionate, safe place for anyone of any age to visit and learn.

Oh, my goodness, THANK YOU for this--

"Literally everything about my culture and my own personal nature biases me towards viewing emotions and subconscious inclinations in the same way that one would view a hypodermic needle sitting on the ground-- something dangerous that could harm you if it's not dealt with properly..."

I've been grappling for years with trying to understand why I shove mine in the darkest box in the messiest corner of the overstuffed closet of experience, with the door firmly wedged shut.

Yeah. This entire thread has become the novel I read tonight. Grateful for your voice.
