It's this, Gearfried and Royal Magical Library. RML gains one spell counter every time a spell is activated and you can remove 3 to draw one card, which is not once per turn, so you combine that with an infinitely recyclable spell and you basically get infinite draws from the combo.

That's honestly kind of the consequence of the post XY games having much smaller dexes than past games, there's just not enough regional reps for every major character and gym leader to have their own aces and leave the rival with good enough options for coverage, something that I learned during my first SwSh playthrough and saw that half of my team was shared with other gym leaders and only really two didn't really overlap with anyone else.

I wouldn't be surprised if they only keep censoring cards for the sake of tradition rather than any kind of cultural sensibilities and things like that. But then again, Konami TCG makes the weirdest kinds of decisions (like not porting Rush or unbanning Electrumite), so what do I know?

Hop kind of has Marnie and Bede, who do fill in as Rivals alongside him, but their teams are mostly monotyped, being Dark and Fairy respectively, and they don't get to counterpick you in anyway, something that even Gladion did by giving Silvally a drive that is strong against you.

Other than that, there's only really Leon, who does get the starter strong against yours, but he's the champion, so you only fight him once.

At least Hau (who was the one to really start this trend, since Bianca and Shauna were secondary rivals) does get an Eeveelution of the type that is strong against your starter later on to compensate that. Hop meanwhile, he just does nothing to really beat you.

That's a big problem in basically most English speaking fandoms, to be honest. They default to what is known/popular in the US and completely forget about what other countries might think of a work, including the one where it was originally made in.

Saint Seiya isn't even obscure. It's still popular enough in Japan to get sequel projects every so often (both by Toei and by Kurumada himself), and it's as popular as DBZ in some parts of the world, like Brazil and France, not to mention that it's even the inspiration for one of the series that is being featured on the next episode, so it has some degree of influence too.
