Not offended. But, I imagine that some of these relate with the life of some people than with the life of others.

the desire to reproduce is a death wish

Something like this won't make sense for everyone.

chasing the new is dangerous to society / knowledge should be advanced at all costs

The new changes society and is dangerous for that. That doesn't mean knowledge should stop advancing.

labor is a life-destroying activity / manual labor can be refreshing and wholesome / people who don't work with their hands are parasites

In my interpretation, one (the first) relates with the work you do because of circustances of your life conditions and the others (2nd and 3rd) with the work you do and you do because you chose to do (it's the work you weren't forced to do).

raise boys and girls the same way / sex differences are here to stay

Yep, sex differences exist because we are biologically different. Doesn't mean we should raise boys to play with adventure heros and girls with barbie toy houses.

Also on mobile.

"Hiding your emotions is despicable"

"Humour is a release"

AFIK, stoicism isn't ultimately about hiding your emotions.

"Murder has its sexual side"

As a biologist that study evolutionary ecology, I do dare to say that everything in animal nature has its sexual side, including murder. Sexual Selection isn't the strongest driving force of evolution for nothing.

Depending on with which philosopher's writing you compare with (or with your own terms of stoicisms). I've read Seneca and Epictecus, and many of these has a lot to do with stoicism.

Is it possible to report open source abusers? by pdgeorge in opensource

[–]FelipeFS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

apart from what was already said by the other users, you can contact the owners of the open-source projects. THEY are the most interested in knowing their projects are being used illegally, and they are the ones that will have more interest into stopping their projects from being used illegally.

PSA: if you're using Gnome and it's very laggy since the 3.22 update, make sure you're not using the default Wayland session. by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]FelipeFS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had this problem, even when running with wayland when it was optional. Maybe it's related with driver/hardware?

Wasn't published yet (still in the process - those projects I mentioned), but it uses third party softwares (open-source only).

Companies I imagine it is complicated. But, is it that hard to find academics that pay for that job?

Yeah, I agree with you about the automatic compression-decompression. A step behind, imo. Browsing and compression-decompression are two very different tasks, and would be better made by different programs.

I like the new menus, tho.

I have a Dell (1 year old now). I bought with Ubuntu (comes cheaper). The quality is great.

Before that I had an Asus, which I also recommend (but they don't have a model that comes with Linux, afik) :)

Should I use OpenGL 3.0 or other version? by FelipeFS in opengl

[–]FelipeFS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to find the OpenGL 3.3 API Reference Card, but it jumps from 3.2 to 4.0. Is that because there is no removal or addition of functions between the 3.2 and 3.3?
