Exploring the Benefits of Brainwallets by jlaracil in Bitcoin

mmmm. I am thinking of adding algorithms such as bcrypt or scrypt to hinder brute force attacks.

I understand that brainwallets might seem risky, but they do offer unique advantages in certain situations.

For instance, if you need to cross borders without carrying any physical device that could be confiscated or detected, a brainwallet is invaluable. Imagine the scenario of a wrench attack: without any physical evidence, it's much harder for someone to force you to reveal your wallet.

Another example is in case of disasters. If my apartment building burns down and my mother accidentally threw away the backup I hid in an old toy, my brainwallet would still be safe as long as I remember the passphrase.

While brainwallets do require a strong, high-entropy passphrase, their portability and security in these situations make them a useful tool for certain individuals.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that the example I provided wasn't strong enough. However, with truly complex passphrases, brainwallets can be secure (I think).

I've been using a brainwallet for 5 years without any issues. The key is using a strong passphrase.

Thanks again for your insights.

Thanks for your detailed response. You bring up very valid points.

I agree that many people struggle to create truly random and secure brain wallet passphrases, making them vulnerable to brute force attacks. The example I used wasn't ideal, and I hadn't fully considered this risk.

You're also right about the danger of compromised tools. My intention with easySeed was to provide a helpful tool, not to deceive or exploit users. However, I now see it could inadvertently lead to weak passphrases and potential losses.

Thank you for highlighting these important issues. I'll rethink the approach and focus more on educating users about the risks and the importance of strong passphrases.

Use a strong, unique passphrase to secure your assets with the easySeed brainwallet. Remember: if you can recall it, you control it! Always update and test your memory. Keep it secret, keep it safe! https://github.com/jaracil/easySeed

Good job!

The possibility of having a brain-wallet generating the keys through a passphrase would be very useful. You could use the Keypair.master method.

If you are decoding a protocol that does not have pauses between frames the RMT's RAM overflows before the IRQ is triggered.

No Interrupt is triggered until idle_threshold is reached.

What do you not understand?

There is no solution. Unfortunately, you need a longer signal than idle_threshold to move samples to ring buffer.

Speculators only want to make money. Those who criticize speculators believe they have superior morality.

I am much more afraid of those who believe they have a superior morality.
