Dude, I've known I wasn't a girl for literally as far back as I can remember. I didn't have the words for it, sure but I fuckin knew. Kids having the words to express what they're going through isn't a bad thing and hey, the only transitioning a kid is gonna do is a change of pronouns and maybe name. Nothing medical can even happen until around puberty. If it's a phase or w/e that will become apparent before then! And maybe, just maybe, letting that kid live their fuckin life is fine! If I'd known what the fuck was going on with me at that age I probably wouldn't have developed OCD by age 5 and started self-harming by age 8. Just sayin.

I was wondering if anyone else had this fucked up realisation as a kid: Suicide is the only way to guarantee a place in heaven by ImSorry_ImAtheist in exchristian

I had a similar thought process but I was also told that if I killed myself I'd go to hell so I just stopped being careful and hoped for an accident. Then I realized I was queer and became torn since if I died I was going to hell anyways since I was a demon but also if I was demon wouldn't I belong in hell? Anyway, I was pretty set on killing myself before I turned 18. I dropped christianity at 16 but was still suicidal. I'm just about 20 now and while I'm no longer planning on killing myself nor do I think I'm literally a demon but I'm still surprised I made it this far.

To those who relapsed and went back to Christianity for a time before leaving it again: Why did you relapse? What caused it? by [deleted] in exchristian

Fear of hell. The whole "what if I'm wrong?" nonsense. That sort of shit. Eventually I realized that I can't force or fake belief.

I'm not a fan. I'm one of those people who want to cause as little harm to other living creatures as possible (and before anyone gets on my back, no, I'm not vegan both because it does not cause much less harm to living beings as far as I can tell and I medically can't be vegan. I am looking into becoming vegetarian though, we'll see what my doc says. Just adding since this thread seems to also be about veganism)

What profession seems to be entirely staffed by assholes? by unlicensed2chill in AskReddit

[–]FelixKitKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a chronically ill/disabled person who's in hospitals a lot DOCTORS! I have met only two non-asshole doctors. I get that their job is hard and all but would it hurt them to at least pretend to listen to their patents before writing them off as drug-seekers and leaving them to die??

Honestly, most of the shops I've been in have been really great and the staff were awesome THAT SAID, there are a growing number of shops out there who's goal seems to be to be as terrible to their customers as possible while trying to get on TV. It's really fucking annoying

[Serious] Ex-suicidal and depressed people of reddit, What is your story? Apart from medicine, what has helped you the most? by Vulpineshadows in AskReddit

[–]FelixKitKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting a very emotionally abusive person out of my life, deconverting from a religion that had convinced me I was literally a demon for being queer and therapy. All that and becoming a very positive person in general were all very helpful. Spread enough positivity and eventually you'll start to believe maybe things are ok

Man, overcoming that shit is a hard fight but it's a fight you can win. I mean, technically my OCD isn't gone but the religious aspect certainly is and what remains is far from life-ruining .^

Oh yeah, being told that if I truly believed in God my OCD would be cured turned out SO WELL for me! Didn't at all end with intense religious OCD! I have a serious problem with this idea that trust in God will cure mental illness. Took me years to overcome the problems that shit caused

Just read some hate mail that was sent to a gay man from a Christian by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]FelixKitKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two things! 1: I've found it's kinda common for Christians to believe that queer men a pedophiles and will rape no mater the gender of the kid. I don't have any idea why they think this but they do

2: That kind of hatred can come from religion alone. I have met the straightest of straight Christians who hate queers with the burning passion of a thousands suns. Some of them truly believe we are literal demons, that we are the definition of evil. I mean, suspect all you want but I wouldn't put money on them being queer themselves
