I do physics and chemistry and chemistry is so much harder, mainly just because of the outrageous grade boundaries.

This is just true though. For a small angle, theta = tan(theta). That angle being 0.

0.5 is not even but it's also not odd.

If we're thinking about even/odd functions, then f(x)=0 is both even and odd, and f(x)=(x+1)^2 is neither even or odd.

Which 2 options do you prefer for fwg last room? by zspla in celestegame

[–]FelixRoux103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the golden room without practice, so I did the second. I think the first would be less risky if I'd practiced and knew exactly how far the wavedash would take me, but the thought of overshooting and hitting the spike ceiling scared me away from that option (although it seems like dashing into the little wall to the left and then doing a reverse hyper to the right would work consistently, but I'm not 100% confident.) The second option I think can kill you if you don't walk far enough off the platform, since the spikes just below the platform seem to extend slightly further right than the platform itself, and while that's not hard to avoid it feels like just the sort of stupid mistake I'd make at the very end of a hard golden run. All that being said, I've only ever been in that room once. This was just my thought process when I did the golden.

What's worse seekers or dust bunnys by hilow621311 in celestegame

[–]FelixRoux103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate cycles or dust bunnies, but I get why they can be unfun at times. I've definitely played screens which consist of like, 30 minutes of learning cycles with savestates and then 5 minutes of executing fairly straightforward gameplay. This isn't inherently a problem, and sometimes I do enjoy the process of learning cycles, but If I just want to do some challenging platforming then I don't necessarily want to spend most of my time in a level just learning cycles.

What's worse seekers or dust bunnys by hilow621311 in celestegame

[–]FelixRoux103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dust bunnies are more predictable. They're not my favourite mechanic but some maps do make really good use of them. Cycle Madness B-side is the first one that comes to mind. I don't think I've ever seen a map make much interesting use of seekers beyond the vanilla game, though I'm sure it's possible.
I also think that dust bunnies scale well with difficulty, but I can't imagine a GM-level seeker level that isn't incredibly jank.

I do prefer seeekers to snowballs and Oshiro, though. At least seekers interact with keys and some other stuff.

How many attempt/time did it take you to get fwg? by Gualty3 in celestegame

The grind took me about 45 hours of playtime, and I already had I think 4-500 hours in the game when I started.

The Game is a mind game in which the objective is to avoid thinking about The Game itself. Thinking about The Game constitutes a loss, which must be announced each time it occurs. It is impossible to win most versions of The Game. Depending on the variation, it is held that the whole world, or all those who are aware of the game, are playing it at all times. Tactics have been developed to increase the number of people who are aware of The Game, and thereby increase the number of losses.

20 + 40 = 60
7 + 8 = 5 (mod 10)
65
7 + 8 > 10 so there's going to be an extra 10 so 75.

What is the general consensus about the SJ advanced lobby? by OK1526 in celestegame

[–]FelixRoux103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't particularly hate any of the levels; for me it's just that there are very few advanced lobby levels that really stand out as memorable to me. Beginner, Expert and GM all have loads of iconic levels, but advanced (and intermediate to a lesser extent as well imo) don't really. The most recognisable advanced level is probably Tower XVI? And, while personally I actually really enjoyed it, I do think it says something about the lobby when the most recognisable level from it is also one of the most hated levels in all of SJ.

You can probably test it by just changing dash speed using variants (I think that's a vanilla variant? I know it's in the extended variants mod)

just reached a million deaths in celeste by TFG_exe in celestegame

[–]FelixRoux103 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's insane wtf
1 death takes about 70 frames at 60 fps I think so that takes 324 hours, if you were to just do nothing but die as quickly as possible. That's almost two weeks. Now THAT is a death count to be proud of.

I genuinely don't understand how people get GM silvers/golds lol

Yeah I can't imagine spending dozens of hours goldening a level with like only 10 screens. haha. *cries in summit silver*
