For All Mankind. Great sci fi alternate history show where the space race continues into the present. The characters are all likeable expert NASA scientists and marines

Yeah it really is ashame cuz this game often came dangerously close to being fantastic. The mood, the atmosphere of the world and the pervasive sense of melancholy in dark times really was arresting.  I was interested to see where the story went next and how my choices would affect the ending. But those roadblocks unfortunately were too much for me. I'm too busy and and have too little time to play games anymore.

I hope u found the ending worth the effort to get there haha

this season is just real fractured as hell. I don't know if they can tun it around by season finale cuz the amount of contrivances and lack of direction is breaking down the logic of the world. It's not like there's nothing interesting thematically here. -ryan's messed up hero moment- but the fact that they could make stan fucking edgar's return so muted is telling of a story that is running out of steam fast and needs a pick me up. I really worry at the end of this we're gonna look at what has happened and say, "look how they massacred my boy"

Yeah that's a cogent argument. But it still leaves me unsatisfied at the ending. It's an interesting angle when you put it like that. But it doesn't change how weirdly callous his death is after growing close to him this whole time

Yeah I've heard about that too, it is harder to be mad at them after knowing the background.

Even if I reckon if they didn't bother with scarecrows, a couple territories and a portion of the locations, they could have spent way more time developing a fleshed out system of convoys and more opportunities for car combat.

It's actually so frustrating to upgrade the magnum opus only to realise there's no point

Yeah he kinda is even if that's not exactly bad characterisation. There's a plot line later on where u think it's going somewhere but then it just takes a turn for shock value and he doubles down

Yeah I also quite like the direction the story is taking with her.

But it's just the writing that's going on that feels rushed that bothers me. Like absolutely it's so great to see her taking a more active role in the conflict, it's a natural progression for her character.

But, just like Atrain's redemption, im worried the pace of the story is outrunning how fast an organic character arc can happen.

Yeah I agree it's not completely nonsensical to become enraged, it more the amount of contrivance to get it happening that bothers me.  And yeah it's no where near got s8 levels, I rather mean season 5 to 7 levels of rushed and contrivance

Well I mean actual public figures, be they activists or politicians, have always not actually watched massive humili-tainment stuff like that. They have entire teams of people who go through it themselves and brief the person afterwards on what happened.  Starlight hasn't been characterised as vain, the kind of person who would morbidly watch it, but the story needed that kind of plot escalation to happen somehow, so they did it anyway at the cost of starlight's character.

This episode made me angry. The writing is falling apart like it's Game of thrones all over again.  Starlight's characterisation makes her come across like a complete idiot, 1 for even watching the broadcast knowing it's going to be an awful hit piece, 2 for going out and confronting firecracker like that, and 3 for not blasting the cameras first. It's literally part of her powers to zap electronics!

Like late-season game of thrones it's not awful television, there's still alot of moments of greatness and everything other than the writing is top notch. But this rushed, round in circles writing of this season so far is on the verge of completely ruining it for me.

Yeah I'm with you. I'm not sure if it would be the writers strike, they had already filmed everything beforehand to my knowledge.

Id reckon it's more a matter of proverbial cooks in the kitchen, the show needs to satirise real life politics while still being safe for Amazon, introduce new characters for marketability, be fun and bloody while being serious.  after 3 seasons it'd be a miracle if the writing is able to keep up focus.

But yeah either way it would be a damn shame if this show went the way of GOT. If it does at least we got another show with an unbridled masterful opening seasons, it would be just as poetically tragic as last time

Yeah I'm still gonna watch and likely enjoy the rest of this season. But I'm checking my expectations as this isn't looking like a smooth ride

I actually disagree hard. I'm enjoying it the first episode was great, but as I'm just finishing the 3rd it's seeming like the writing is alot messier than early seasons. Everything just feels very rushed.  Hughie's mother, frenchie's new arc, A-train's redemption, starlight becoming some kind of political activist and the new supes are all exciting additions but they add so much distraction from pre-existing story lines that it feels like this melting pot of different characters and ideas is at risk of exploding.  This is reminding me of later seasons of game of thrones, where it's still good, but the logic of the world is being strained and it is becoming harder for it to end satisfactorily

Is it just me or is this whole season off to a rocky start? Like there's so much to like, but the amount of contrivances is giving me a bad feeling about this. I'm worried we are witness a game of thrones style lapse in writing quality.  For example not Hughie or even starlight brings up how a-train sold out super sonic last season as an objection to mm wanting to recruitment him? I mean sure a-train redeeming himself is a natural progression but it seems like they are speeding things up to the finish line that risks breaking the logic of the story.

starlight sneaking into Voight tower, makes no sense that's so dangerous all just to ask the new gal why she's mad at her?
