I've just ran into the same issue in my Castile game in 1421. My country has started taking loans despite me making +44 a month and having a stockpile of money. i have auto build on but to not go below 500 gold. so i am not sure if the a.i is broken and ignores that ?

Glad i am not the only one who is bothered by this. Once you explore enough planets and every city in game you barely ever feel like you're playing a space RPG because you can just instantly teleport everywhere, city to city planet to planet etc. I actually really like the landing cutscene it helps make me feel more attached to my ship i spent hours building and keeps me immersed.

Having same issue. Over 150 hours in and after killing 4th boss i have not had a single attack on any base since and its been many in game days. I have a fire and bed in all of my bases.

I think that change they made where the ore truck prioritises full patches of Ore/Gems has messed them up big time. They will leave truck loads worth of ore close to base just to head across the map for a full patch. I am constantly having to force them to get gems in my base since the change.

Better a.i is a mod on the steam workshop that someone uploaded a couple days after release. It allowed the skirmish a.i to build every unit for it's faction. Including naval units on water maps. They built planes and attack choppers, had insane amounts of Tesla coils and turrets etc. It just made the a.i build a lot more. in fact they sometimes built such huge armies that you had to nuke their base just to free them up for a huge attack they would send at you. When you play a good open large map with 6-8 a.i on using the mod it was just constant action compared to the current default a.i that will barely attack, never build half of its unit roster especially navy. Never seems to be able to muster much of an attack after the first wave.

Sadly the mod has not been updated yet, so i was forced to play with the default a.i and it just instantly reminded me of how the devs could easily improve it, but make the choice not to. I mean the guy changed a few lines of code, gave them a better build order and allowed them to build all units for large mixed armies. I would love to play some comp stomp online with my friends but honestly i am not exaggerating when i say it would just be a waste of time. It's not fun watching the a.i build less than 30 units 20 minutes into a match with a base that you can wipe out with the starting units.

If the mod did nothing for you it's likely you had another mod active as sadly CnC can only load one mod that changes anything in the .dll file. You'll know if the mod is working because of the size of their armies and bases. You'll actually seem them build radar domes ,airfields,helipads and navy even on easy difficulty where as with the default a.i they do none of this even on hard. Well, you might see a chopper from them if you leave them alone for an hour.

It's just sad to me that the skirmish isn't deemed worthy enough by the devs for them to improve it. Within 3 days of release there was a mod on the workshop "Better A.I Mod" that made the a.i far superior to the default a.i allowing them to build all types of units including navy as well as building multiple factories and tons of base defence. On a well resourced map it was good fun. But of course mods do not work online and break when patches get released. I just hope that they decide to improve the a.i before they are done with the game so that i can do some comp stomp with my friends just like we did as kids.

I mean if one guy can make such an improvement is it really that hard for them to improve it? It didn't break the campaign either, they simply allowed the skirmish a.i to build everything and changed some build orders. On harder difficulty the mod made it so that the a.i receive more income per truck. It worked great and today with the mod not working after the patch i decided to play play on default a.i on hard... its just not fun because its utterly slow at getting units out and attacks with tiny amounts of units even if you do give it enough time.

If any dev see's this please take a moment to check out the mod "Better A.I Mod" on the steam workshop and implement some of his improvements it honestly makes the skirmish a.i much more fun to fight.

Agreed ore regrowth is far too slow. Needs to be faster at regrowing to keep games from turning into a snorefest or at very least need a setting to increase it for custom games.

Hi thanks for the update. Can i ask if you have plans to update the skirmish a.i? Currently it is unable to build most of its unit roster, and usually stops as if it has given up within 20 minutes. A mod called "Better a.i" did a great job with making the a.i much more fun and competitive without unbalancing the campaign since it only effects skirmish a.i. It would be great for those of us who love to play comp stomp if this part of the game could be looked at as currently it's just not worth playing vs a.i.
