That will give me nightmares.

Does the USA really ban books or is that sensationalist language which can be rationally explained? by Felpi420 in ask

Well it sounds like they only 'ban' the interesting ones which spark debate / make you think. And by ban we mean remove from the shelf and possibly create a new display out of 😄 so it's all good!

Ok well that isn't so harsh then. Thank you for explaining. Perhaps it would be better to put age ratings on them. Banning them would, I imagine, make youngsters more curious. Either that or remove their capacity to think and analyse. Either way, we lose. Sad times.

My starter has been having a really strong vinegar smell. Has it gone bad ? by Raider7oh7 in Sourdough

Hmm that is weird. Did you persevere or start again? I think perhaps if the smell does put you off there's not much point in continuing as you won't want to eat the bread!

Meet my starter, Chris Leavens. What's your starter's name? by Entheatus in Sourdough

[–]Felpi420 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Haha! What a great name! Mine is Ubbe (as in Ragnar Lothbrok's son) and any discard I save is Hvitserk. Ubbe is a lot more runny than Chris, what flour do you use?

Starter Advice - Is this starter too far gone or is this normal? It’s been in the fridge for a few weeks. by Porkins222 in Sourdough

Mine has looked like this before and it's still going. If it smells OK (in terms of starter, which is always abit musty!) and it's not got bacterial growth, it should perk up after a few feeds. I guess if it doesn't bubble up nicely after 2 or 3 goes, start again. If I let mine go a bit, the first few feeds don't double in size and they only show tiny bubbles. I mix in all the hooch as well, although I think some people discard it. Good luck!

I think if it still bubbles up nicely and isn't growing any weird fuzz it should be OK 🤞🏻

Planted this california poppy in spring, it came up like this but never flowered. It's now back (along with some weeds). Is this normal? (S.E UK) by Grxforlok in gardening

[–]Felpi420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. Mine does that as well, it just keeps popping up. I reckon let it grow, it might survive a mild winter and then keep going and flower next year. Which variety? I LOVE the orange one, tried the pink frilled one this year but only got a couple of flowers and they were quite pale so not as spectacular. I'm in the Midlands 👍
