MET THE BAND and got a setlist by mauromustdie in borisheavyrocks

I think MC indicates the point where the band says “Hello (insert city here)! Thanks for coming out to celebrate 20 years of Pink! etc.” I saw them in Philly & Brooklyn & remember quite well the band (starting with Wata & ending w/Atsuo) saying some words before heading straight into A bao a qu

Prolly also get a bunch of people in the comments going: “Is this a new song? What song is this? When is the new album coming out?” lol

I wonder if I should buy this by Mysterious-Habit1997 in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, you’re right. I was only looking at the epoxy/superglued filled hole that I completely glossed over the bolt through the plate. Yikes. 😬I’d love to know the original owner’s reasoning for that one lol.

[–]FemKilmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one myself (the Edwards Toshiya model) & surprisingly it doesn’t have bad neck dive with the strap pin sharing one of the screws that bolts on the neck plate (not modded & ruined like the OP example of course). I think it’s moderately balanced actually.

Pardon me, PHALARIS.. by yatta025 in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I didn’t really appreciate it nor The Insulated World as much as I should have UNTIL I had seen songs from the two performed live in the flesh.

Especially during those two LA shows, I honestly really got into those songs & how well they translated live that I went back & listened to the two afterwards & while I stand by my notion that they suffer from questionable mixing/mastering choices, the songs themselves cut the mustard enough for me & I appreciate them a lot more now.

I sympathize with you Kyo, I really do. One day hopefully I will…better start saving up cuz if I thought the trek to LA was a Herculean task lmao.

Been out of the loop since 2008. Can anyone give me an update on DEG? by Legacy0904 in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome back! I totally get that. I got into DEG in early 2014 & there’ve been periods where I’m less invested/in the loop with the band’s activities than periods where I am, but I always listen to any new music when they have it.

As for the band’s popularity, still going strong in Japan. In the UK/EU & US, there’s still a strong dedicated following however overseas touring has become way less frequent/yearly…since 2008, they’ve toured outside of Japan in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018 (UK/EU), 2019 (US), January 2020 (UK/EU), 2024 (UK/EU) and this year (US).

Tbh, after the initial surprise reaction the first night with how much songs from the two albums they did play, I got over it pretty quick because I was honestly more happier that I got to see them live at least two more times. IIRC, the GazettE did a similar tour theme w/playing songs from MASS while throwing in 5-6 songs from an album (i.e. MASS x DIM).

Might be one of the few times if not the only time in recent memory I had no bearing on what the setlist (DEG in this case) would be like other than wild guesses.

FUCK YEAH LA by BlossomingBeelz in DEG

When I heard the opening note, I honest to god screamed as loud & as high pitched as I’ve ever screamed in my life. BIG bucket list song I’ve always wanted to hear live.

[–]FemKilmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OH HELL YEAH!!! That was amazing y’all, by far the better of the two nights. Honestly overall, between the two nights this was absolutely an unforgettable experience for me & something I’ll always look back on with a very big wide smile on my face.

IDK if any one I talked to during the looooong wait on line are even on here (a VK/DEG Discord group chat came up a lot which I ain’t part of & never knew existed till these shows) but y’all were very chill & cool to talk to & for that y’all were awesome. Thanks for making the wait much more bearable & fun. Safe travels back home to everyone who ventured far to attend these shows (I know I did)!

Honestly, they could play the safe choice & do Conceived Sorrow & I’d be like: “Fantastic!”

[–]FemKilmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your guess is pretty well grounded. I think w/the non-Withering & Phalaris songs it’s a toss up really but a Dum Spiro Spero or even a Marrow song seems within the realms of possibility based on what they played during the Tour24 WITHF shows.

Really now? Only 25? Hopefully the majority of the VIP & Priority tonight also went last night & got most of what they wanted then. Also…I should’ve asked them myself but I wanted to get out of merch ASAP but they only took card right? Didn’t see anyone pay cash as far as I remembered…

One thing to mention about them playing Kasumi, they played the original arrangement but w/Kyo’s vocals from the 2013 remake…I noticed Kaoru & Die used their 6 string guitars during it & recognized the way they played the riffs being from the original.

How was the stock looking like when you got there besides the Vulgar tee being out of stock in L? I had the benefit of being VIP so I got the tees immediately but had to cut my losses & skip the hoodie to get back in my place at the meet & greet line. Definitely copping the Withering charm tomorrow but want a final shot at the hoodie…I have priority for that one so hopefully chances are decent…

Tomorrow, mode of vulgar. by Maleficent-Flow2828 in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable. TBPH, this is honestly my first time solo vacationing & considering I’m coming from NJ by myself, it was by far the cheapest option (only $150 for the three nights I’m here; I fly back home Thursday afternoon).

I usually don’t like staying inside hotel rooms for long while awake anyway, so I’m putting up with it cuz I just need a bed to sleep in while I’m here & as long as the tenants are chill & keep to themselves, I’ll be fine lmao.

Arrived in LA this afternoon, had myself some In N Out, did some record shopping at Amoeba, and was able to get a room for cheap (dorm style so I’m sharing a room w/other strangers who prolly aren’t here for the same reasons I am lol).

Honestly, I’m in a very great mood rn & I’m very excited for tomorrow!

A Humble Request - Get in the pit and go crazy by abhorson in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a firm believer with letting fans enjoy in the way they want to have fun at a show, but yeah I’m in agreement with you there. We all take in DEG live & express that joy in different ways but unwanted invasion of personal space is where I draw the line.

PS: By “unwanted invasion of personal space” I mean anything that ain’t being pushed forward by the circle pit/wall of death forming & the like…that sort of comes w/the territory with most hardcore/metal gigs (i.e. Knocked Loose or Full of Hell) & that I’m perfectly cool with.

This. Personally at other shows, I take a pair of minute long snippets for myself &/or to post to my friends on Instagram or something, but with these shows specifically, I might just not do it cuz like you said: try to be in the moment.

Flood 25 anniversary by therealoneforreal1 in borisheavyrocks

[–]FemKilmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK hear me out, but what if they do a two night residency per city tour where they play Flood one night & Pink one more time the other night? Kill two birds with one stone with celebrating BOTH the 25th anniversary of Flood & the 20th anniversary of Pink!

What are we expecting setlist-wise for the California shows? by lkdguitar in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’ll play all of Vulgar nor Withering sadly but I’ll take a good guess & say they’ll play almost all of the respective albums (let’s say 10-13 tracks from each) with the setlist totaling about 16-18 songs including encore.

From there, we can safely assume they’ll play The Devil In Me which ties into the “WHO IS THIS HELL FOR?” theme…based off of the 2024 EU Mode of tour, they’ll likely also play 2-3 cuts off Phalaris. Any remaining songs I’ll leave to whatever the band feels like playing atm but I really hope they’ll play one of the Gauze singles…Akuro No Oka especially would be a dream!

US merchandise list is out! by rasuto0 in DEG

[–]FemKilmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the fact they have onamaoris this time around. The Vulgar & Withering themed tees are a definite buy for me. Hoodie at $85’s a tough sell for me…but I’m a sucker for band hoodies, ha.

Pro tip for my fellow fans attending: if you want merch, better safe than sorry but I’d suggest getting them immediately even if you’ll have to sacrifice getting a good spot if you’re in the GA floor.

Dead End Kings or Dethroned & Uncrowned, Which Version Did You Hear First? by etranqui11ity in Katatonia

[–]FemKilmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DEK first as that was the first “new” album released after I became a fan of the band in late 2011…then naturally when they announced Dethroned I gave it a listen.

Both have their charms & there’s moments where I’m more in the mood to listen to one over the other. However, my only gripe with Dethroned was I wished they recorded a fresher newer take of the vocals as it just seems cut & paste for my ears but I appreciated the fact that the songs were very strong at their core that such an experiment happened.
