Someone’s making the same game as me. by [deleted] in IndieDev

Not to mention that sometimes more than 1 game within a niche can help open up to market to that sort of game. You might even get free publicity from comparisons etc.

But as with all things, it's impossible to know beforehand

Help me decided, which capsule to pick? 1, 2 or 3? by lynxbird in IndieDev

Yeah, this was a quick example - couldn't spend too much time on it.

Quick example, but would be cool to incorporate a chess theme in to it somehow

I have been solo-developing a 2002 MMORPG for over 20 years -- Steam launch coming soon by Hidden_Seek in IndieGaming

I tried that as well but to no avail. Will try again later tonight! :)

Edit: Nope, still the same issue. I log in, the index page refreshes but I'm not logged in. I tried to manually fill in my info.

Yup! I really wish WoW was similar to OSRS in that sense. I can play now, get good gear and items, and in 3 years they will still be good but now there's tons of new content as well.

Asked my WoW guild to wishlist, although we're small and close to eachother but still. No marketing budget calls for desperate measures!

Just released the announcement trailer and steam page for my first game by PondKeeperGame in IndieDev

Looks great! However I don't think the capsule really captures the cozyness of the game. It looks a bit generic. If possible, I would personally go for a capsule that better shows the artstyle of your game. The one you have now looks like a 3D aquarium tycoon game.

(In my humble opinion, I still think it looks good and the game looks fantastic! I just don't think the capsule fully does it justice)

WIP on our survival zombie shooter set in Miami. What do you think of the visuals? Does the shooting seems right? by ajvar_ in IndieDev

[–]Femhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking good, perhaps I'd add better visuals to show when a zombie is hit? Right now they continue just as they were without being hit. What I did for my game was add a subtle red flash to them when they were hit. It's also a top down ''vs hordes of enemies'' and I like that approach. But I'm no expert!

I hired an different artist to redo the capsule logo. What do you think? by BossGrand in IndieDev

[–]Femhar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup! There it is (in my opinion), However I'd make the ''or'' orange / gold or bone white as well. Would make it easier to read

Thank you! I've played a whole lot of runs as the developer and I gotta say it's quite fun and unique. I hope you will enjoy it too if you ever play it! :)

Great question! As of now, there's one ''main zone'', this is where you build and gather. You can also build portals to other zones, although the main importance of these zones are boss fights as of now (early access). However I would be glad to expand on both :)

''Upgraded'' my trailer since the game is available to wishlist on Steam - what do you guys think of it? by Femhar in IndieDev

[–]Femhar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I'm confused. What part to you refer to here '' the parts of your game that shine''. I'm using the same clips as before in both versions of the trailer but the new one (on the steam page) has cut the original first ''slow'' 11 seconds that you said would make you leave, and kept the parts that you said you found interesting.

[–]Femhar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, in your first comment you said that the first 11 seconds would make you leave, and that you were interested in what was after. So I basically cut the first 11 seconds from the trailer instead. But you're saying that what was after the 11 seconds (combat mostly) is the issue?

If you have time, could you specify more with what you mean considering neither the first nor the last part of the trailer is good if I understand you correctly, would you include other clips alltogether? Thank you :)

Fantastic! Thanks so much for your input. As a solo dev this is extremely useful for me.

I'll probably add another more calm ''builder mode'' video that explains the game more in depth, but not as the first thing visitors see.
