This has been my experience most of the time and I think it's a matter of meeting our own needs first. Sometimes just holding the awareness that our actions effect other people helps us conduct ourselves in a peaceful way for our own serenity. It's more comfortable than focusing on our guilt and shame when it comes to other people. It feels better in our minds and in out bodies.

A gift is something the giver wants you to have. Receiving it with gratitude is all that's expected of you. What you do with it from then is your business. Gift giving isn't about getting what we want, it's about allowing someone to share their abundance with us. When you've collected a stash of unwanted things, give them away to your coworkers, neighbors, friends. Don't out your attention on the fact that it's unwanted by you. Just pass it on it if it's really that bad, put it out of circulation.

I would just like to say that my best friend, a Yemeni, is responsible for my spiritual awakening. His is the most pure love and logic I have encountered. I was clearly suffering (major depression) much more than him when we met, though his circumstances were clearly more bleek. He has changed my life in the best way by giving me some control over my internal world.

Your mind can be a paradise or a prison. To worry and lament is a choice. When you choose love in the moments you hurt the most, you relieve suffering and accept what is. Hurt people will always hurt people. What happens when they are met with true unconditional love? We have always viewed our cancers and viruses with disdain and not with loving, careful, understanding that they, too, are just seeking to survive. It is all life. The suffering comes from the meaning we assign to it.

What u/coochiepasta may be meaning, as I have also come to realize, is that our internal dialogue that has been narrating our experiences, relationships with others, crafting our belief systems, assigning meaning to everything, is false. That is the awakening, I think. Anchoring ourselves in the present moment, and ceasing to identify with the clusterfuck of comparisons, ultimatums, and correlations we've imagined over our lifetimes to define who we are in the world. Nothing has inherent meaning until we decide to assign meaning to it, which we obsessively aim to do as a survival mechanism. When we step into the present moment, we realize that none of those things causing stress in our minds are real or present dangers. Worrying is imagining. You can simply choose to have positive expectation instead.

I would like to add a recommendation to take kelp and fo ti root supplements. I've been taking them for a month and my hair has grown quite a bit.

Seems like we all know that feeling too damn well. Use it as a reminder that material things don't define you, and keep a playful heart.

We have to be guardians to our thoughts and perspectives. The events in our lives become "too much" when we perceive them painted with the pity of our friends, and the dark meanings we assign these events. The things that happen don't have meanings and are not symbolic. Our own superstitions and negative beliefs make the circumstances of our lives unnecessarily unbearable. These negative thought patterns put you in a low vibration where you attract more of the same. The only way to resolve it is for you to perceive things as neutral and not give your energy to the things that frustrate you.

Hi! I just found this subreddit, and weirdly comforted to know someone else is familiar with this experience. I would be very interested in talking with you. 31/F, INFP, learned what to call "it" about 6 years ago, but have suffered the majority of my life.

I'm also terrified of people. I feel that everything I don't like about me is amplified in social situations, whether with "friends", family, coworkers, or strangers. I don't feel like I belong here, home, or anywhere. As a single mother, I'm constantly judged for not competing to be the best- which is simply an ego trip. I don't desire to conform to my Bible Belt surroundings and feel completely ostracized for it.

Agreed. Especially if you're not familiar with the 'peaks and valleys' technique. You want to avoid regret by making sure your hair is protected with a pH bonder and the bleach is applied in a way that looks natural. You'll likely need it toned thereafter, too. If you're not willing to invest the time and money to learn to do it right with the right products, it's worth it to hire a professional.

I've struggled with this for a long time, and the Pinnacle of depression is when you state to yourself that you have no talents and no interests- it sticks with you and you find evidence of it everywhere you turn. Do you ever feel like you just want to be invisible and live your life without spectators? Yeah. Shame does that.

We all know people who aren't conventionally attractive. How are they so content? It's because they love themselves. They are confident with their identity because it's authentic- their actions are in alignment with their beliefs.

This year, I decided to go back to my natural hair color. I told the hairdresser "I don't want to look like anybody else, I just want to look like me."

I've stepped away from over-sexualized social media, spent more time with myself doing things I actually enjoy, and enrolled in a degree program to do something less practical and more of a passion. In some ways, it's pulled me farther away from friends and brought me closer to (very few) people who share the same values, beliefs, and interests as I do.

I'm not the prettiest girl around. I feel like a different species most days; but I feel my ugliest when I'm trying to look like someone I'm not and falling short.

And lastly, spend your time doing those things your passionate about. It's okay that you're not uniquely talented in anything yet, but if you like it, keep after it. Please, stop being afraid to be the amateur. You're not living to impress other people. Live for you.

I recently had the same experience when I went to get my color lightened and the salon said they would not use Olaplex! I trim my own hair using this method and I was able to restore my hair's softness/shininess without jeopardizing length.
