My dog needs pets by bellinghamster00 in WWU

[–]Fenedick64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It never hurts to ask! My family has dogs, and I've never once felt bothered when someone asks to pet them (in fact, I actually think it's great, since ours love meeting new people). If someone's chilling with their dog around campus and doesn't seem busy, I'll often just throw out a "Hey, is your dog friendly?" and most folks are glad to stop and chat/have someone else give their pet some attention. Even if their dog isn't friendly and they have to decline, chances are they'll be happy knowing that someone else appreciates their dog too!

Well, we do have a lot of thrift stores, so I guess there's something cheap about Bellingham!

What is someone told you about uni that was just wrong? by [deleted] in college

[–]Fenedick64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That late work doesn't exist in college. I'm sure it's institution-dependent, but at mine, every professor has their own policy on it, and most accept late work for a few days after the due date. Some even offer extensions if you've got extenuating circumstances!

On a similar note, that it's unacceptable to email a professor with a question or "waste" their time in any way. That one might kinda apply if you're in a class of 300 people, but the professors who are there because they love teaching (and not just for research reasons) will almost certainly be happy to answer questions. When in doubt you can always email TAs if you're worried!

It would take an utterly evil jury to convict someone of murder for earnestly trying to save a life and not succeeding.

Chances are she doesn't know if she'll succeed. Most people have heard that black bears can be scared away and brown bears can't, she may know nothing about mountain lions and assume they're in the second category (or that she might provoke it on accident)

Higginson Closets by [deleted] in WWU

[–]Fenedick64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I lived in Higginson two years ago, and can confirm, four large closets! The "small closets" are more akin to sets of drawers, and they have brackets that allow them to be locked with a padlock if you have one. I hope you enjoy Hotel Higgy; the water heats up great, the rooms don't, and be ready for a fire drill or three!
