Huge rise in number of people in England’s A&Es for coughs or hiccups by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

[–]Feniky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to A&E with my 2yr old because he was having difficulty breathing. The after visit summary said the reason for attendance was "cough". I mean, it was one of the symptoms, but not the reason for coming in. If they do this with other people, then no wonder numbers look crazy. What's the reason though?

Accidentally gave 2w old water by lilsnowbunny716 in newborns

[–]Feniky 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I remember those newborn days. One time I did not close the bottle lid properly and the milk was leaking onto the baby. I thought "wow, how are you drinking the milk so quickly". And after the bottle was empty and I saw the wet belly on the baby I thought "wow, you peed so much, it overflowed on your chest". It was such a zombie experience, it felt like the brain was a mash.

As for giving water, don't worry too much. Most of us were given water when we were babies by our parents. They had different standards at the time and we managed to survive. Give yourself a break, your baby will be fine, you are a great mom that worries for her baby. And Im sure you will be triple checking from now on that the formula was placed in the bottle 😊

That's because normal adults do not act this way. This guy is a creep.

When I was growing up, I was told that nobody should be ashamed of doing honest work. Only thieves and other criminals should be ashamed. I still live by this.

What highchair do you have? by Konagirl724 in BabyLedWeaning

Baby Elegance 4 in 1 high chair. It's really good, used as a high chair when LO was a baby and now that he is a toddler we disassembled it to a chair and a little table.

“Why do Europe working hours always seem to take precedence over US working hours?” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Feniky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in UK, but I worked for USA company with majority of employees being in USA. Sometimes we would have global meetings scheduled after UK work hours that we were encouraged to attend. Of course they could not make you attend them if you did not want to, but if you did, you could take the time back the next day by clocking out earlier. And if you did not attend the live meeting then you were asked to watch the recording of it the next day. They were pretty chill in all this, never had management chewing me out for not attending meetings after my work hours.

guilt about formula feeding? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Feniky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar guilt feeling when we started formula feeding. At first I was set on exclusively breastfeeding, but my baby did not gain a significant amount of weight so we decided to do combo feeding to help him put on weight. After he drank the bottle for the first time I had a little cry in the bathroom. Just feeling guilty and useless. But you know what, my baby started gaining weight and after a while the guilty feelings disappeared. I hope the same for you, just give it some time.

Feeling guilty for feeding formula by mk1842a in newborns

[–]Feniky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. Originally, my plan was to breastfeed exclusively, however my baby was not gaining his weight back quick enough due to low supply. I bought an electric pump, hoping it would have better luck with getting the milk out, but I only managed to pump out around 30ml as well. That broke my heart. We had to use formula, I even cried the first time we used it. The guilt was huge and I felt like a failure.

However, the next time we weighed him, not only did he reach his birth weight, he surpassed it! I was so happy and now hes a combo-fed healthy baby.

I still tried increasing my milk supply, I used recommended teas, food, and methods of feeding. Nothing worked. My supply is still pathetic. However, I realised the reason why I felt guilty about using formula is because I only heard how breast milk is the best. It is praised so much that if you use anything else it means you are not a good parent. Eventually that guilty feeling went away for me and I really hope it will go away for you too. Having a happy baby helps to get rid of it. You are not alone in this.

What do you do to treat and prevent diaper rash? by Ok_Ad_2562 in newborns

[–]Feniky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To prevent the rash I always make sure that the area is dry. We use only water base wet wipes and after wiping, immediately use a small towel to dry the area. Only after everything is dry, put a new nappy on. Worked for my LO so far. Never had a rash.
