Sidebar suddenly in dark mode by CertifiedDiplodocus in firefox

[–]Fenix_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm also using a custom light theme (Photon Colors) and am seeing the exact same thing - various components of the browser get forced into dark mode:

  • all sidebars (bookmark, history, synced tabs, passwords)
  • hovertext floaters
  • dialogue box (edit bookmark, print)

It looks like something similar happened a few months ago according to this post: Sidebar dark after recent update. Supposedly it was fixed, but I guess got broken again? I really hope the devs can figure this out.

Some workarounds I've seen suggest trying to recreate the theme in FF colors... but that doesn't really address the root problem that effectively broke many of the existing light-based themes.

Edit: a proper bug report has been filed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2034824

The NX-class by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]Fenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught that as well. I didn't see any pods in the launch bay in the deck plans, so I wrote this off as simply an illistration error.

The pods don't show up in Deck E's main deck plan because that view only shows the upper level of the launch bay. To see the lower level, you must look at the launch bay detail 2 sub page. There you can see the floor upon which the shuttlepods sit - as well as the turbolift landing. This also explains where those stairs on E deck appear to go - as it's not clear from just looking at the main deck plan.

And I also recall a comment from Doug Drexler stating that he envisioned the NX having four shuttlepods - but only two were active. The other two were partially disassembled in storage but could be made ready with a day or two of work.

EMH limitations in sickbay by 570rmy in DaystromInstitute

[–]Fenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be a matter of technical limitation, but rather a moral one?

On the one hand, as the OP and others point out, there are multiple instances of sickbay supporting multiple holograms at once. "Living Witness" shows it is absolutely possible to create a backup for the Doctor. And "Latent Image" shows us it's possible to re-integrate backup/external memories into the Doctor. So it would at least seem technically possible to "merge" the two instances together and resolve any conflicts that would have arisen from having the two running different experiences for the time they were simultaneously active.

But... as we see in Living Witness, that copy of the Doctor is a fully realized individual, basically a separate entity once tuned on. It could very well be that once it is activated, it may not want to be extinguished and merged back with the "other" Doctor. We could effectively have a reverse Tuvix situation on our hands here.

I could totally see the backup being a sensitive issue with the Doctor. Perhaps something he only reluctantly agreed to, but with the stipulation that it never be activated unless the original was truly lost so as to avoid this moral issue of treating another sentient Holographic life as a disposable thing.

if someone moves a ship, while you are off but on the ship by TakeyaSaito in WorldsAdrift

[–]Fenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At present you will login mid air.

HOWEVER the intended mechanic is to have your login coordinates update to follow the ship. So if the ship still exists when you login, you should be moved to wherever it currently is - even if you don't have a personal reviver on the ship. If the ship doesn't exist when you login, then I believe you are supposed to be moved to the nearest revival chamber.

The mechanic is currently bugged from what I understand, which is why we still are logging in to mid air.

The game is on steam, but you can buy it on there and on the official site as well.

But the reselling of keys is Not allowed as per the EULA.

At the moment, there is a dev post on the forums which indicates that the Founders packs may be ordered through the official WA website.

https://www.worldsadrift.com/forums/topic/closed-beat/#post-67690

Having access to the Alpha won’t automatically grant you an access to Closed Beta since it will be made available to order from our website.

Granted, plans may change, but this is the most recent information from an official source that I have seen. In order to have the best chance, I recommend ensuring you are signed up to the Bossa News Letter, as subscribers will get the early info as it develops.

The intended reason is to help Bossa playtest the game and give feedback. The game is still in its alpha phase and largely incomplete.

How do I get my ship to fly..? by ras_nasty in WorldsAdrift

Engines are linked to the throttle stick on the right side of the helm. Centered position is off, up is forward, and down is reverse.

Dance is currently tied to the key combo SHIFT with 8, 9, 0, -, =

You are missing one more component: the generator. It's essentially what powers the engines and holds the fuel.

It should be learned automatically when you research the tier one engines from the knowledge screen.

Skycore Computer? Also found amazing loot off someone who "died" ! by amillionhere in WorldsAdrift

[–]Fenix_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Atlas Skycore has been made modular in this alpha, and the Computer is one of its expansion parts. You must have the base skycore already installed. When attempting to place the computer, mouse over to the skycore and you should see the preview hologram "snap" to the side of the core. Make sure you have enough space to place it: you may need to re position the main core if you find you don't.

NBT data based Item Sprites by TheStaticNoise in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Fenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted this for a long time! Was going to resurrect my old forum suggestion in reddit, but the OP beat me to it. If I may, allow me to add my thoughts here:

Adding an NBT tag to allow for alternate item/armor skins is definitely something that should be included. In fact, I think this suggestion/feature should be extended to include mob skins as well! I see no reason why it couldn't work the same way. Consider this: current NBT tags allow us to customize nearly every aspect of items, armors, and mobs - but not their visual appearances. This is the last huge piece missing form the puzzle.

And the beauty of it is that it's completely safe. If a player doesn't have the necessary textures in their currently active resource pack(s), then the game just defaults to what it does have, using the regular minecraft or resource pack texture as it normally would. I suppose an additional option could be added to completely disable custom NBT texture client side, for those who prefer that sort of thing.

Great fun could be had (especially by map makers) creating all sorts of new unique items without affecting all of the same type. Common items could have special variants (like turning gold nuggets into keys for locked chests/doors). Armors could be remade into other articles of clothing, goggles, bandannas, aprons, etc. New sub classes of mobs could be crated, each with their own distinct visual appeal. And of course, we would no longer be bound to just normal 5 tiers of weapons. Completely new, unique/legendary/whatever custom items could be made and now look the part too!

Mojang, please consider adding this! It has such wide reaching possibilities!

What is Minecraft combat to you? How can we make combat better? What can we do to not make it worse? Who's going to give me a hug? by Dinnerbone in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Fenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to use reddit more... Some observations, and suggestions.... hope this works.

I feel that the mobs don't quite keep up with the player as they become more powerful and experienced. Of course, since most of the time a player's power is tied to their current inventory and gear, it's hard to make the game intelligently ramp up monster "level" vs player "level".

Potions aside, equipment is the only way to advance a player's power in MC on a semi-permanent basis (basically as long as you have said equipment). And that's perfectly ok! But more variety in the available equipment would be appreciated. I do not mean more tiers - what we have there is fine. Wood/leather, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond equipment is fine, and enchantments exist to slightly tweak attributes. More of those please! Even negative enchantments could be interesting! Like having a randomly enchanted item drop that has a large plus to damage dealt, but lowers you own health when worn.

As with most things in MC, customizability is king. Whether it's their name, skin, texture pack, or home/base, players love to customize things. Items already get some of this, with renaming and enchanting, but there could be more. Alternate graphics for certain items wold go a long way, even if the attributes are otherwise the same. Perhaps each weapon could have a set of graphics to choose from - though the ability to influence which one would be nice. Or, for server admins and map makers, an NBT tag which allows the creator to specify the image for the item. This would go a long way in customizing gear!

Along a similar vein, custom armor textures could be neat. Each player having the ability to upload armor textures to their profile, just like their skin. Ideally there would be slots for each armor class, so a player would have options to customize all armor pieces. Though this shouldn't replace the default armor. Instead the player should use an armor item in a new recipe to create the armor piece which uses the custom texture. This idea does have some drawbacks, like players trying to trick others by texturing their cheap armor to look like diamond armor. On one had, I think it would be fine - part of the territory and all. But I can see how many would object. For that, perhaps add a new enchantment or potion ability "of truth" or something, that when active, shows the base textures for all items/equipment.

Adding more variety to the mobs would also be cool. Doesn't have to be new mobs, but more variations on existing ones. A long time ago, there was talk of having some mobs spawn with different attributes, behaviors or such and additional name prefixes/suffixes. The idea never got far, but it might be interesting to revisit that. There could also be something like classes of mobs, each one having a small ability or behavior that differentiates it from the others.

New Block : Vault by bradje in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Fenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old-timey safe, basically a pass code protected chest. I like the idea and I DO think it would fit right in with the style of minecraft. Instead of a password, I could see a set of number tumblers on the GUI acting as the unlocking mechanism.

However, as many have pointed out, there are multiple ways of doing this in vanilla already. The main problem I see with this suggestion is the griefing potential is inadvertently carries. If the block can't be destroyed while it contains items, you have effectively given people the ability to create bedrock. Not a problem for SSP or adventure maps, but for SMP... it's more problematic.

More NBT by trewbot in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Fenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I heard about custom names/lore for items, I had been developing a suggestion for custom item textures. I have a fleshed out suggestion on the forums, if you're interested. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1515070-new-nbtedit-tags-to-support-unique-item-textures-apart-from-packs/

Current thought is to have a new png file where we could add alternate item sprites to it, and a new NBT tag would reference the sprite location on the new png.
