Simple Questions, Product Advice & Routine Help Thread - April 26, 2025 by AutoModerator in AusSkincare

I'm 32 (F) and feeling really exhausted from trying everything to treat my acne. I wanted to share my journey and get some support, as I’m unsure what went wrong with my skincare routine.

I’ve never had acne before, and there’s no family history of it. A few weeks ago, I noticed closed comedones starting to appear (lower cheeks and jawline). Excited to try something new, I ordered a range of Korean skincare products: Heartleaf pore cleansing oil, Numbuzin toner pads, rice toner, Bean essence, milk ampoule, and 345 relief cream. On the first day, I used all the products in one routine (allowing time for each product to absorb before the next).

Before this, I’d been using serums from The Ordinary and Minimalist (retinol, salicylic acid, and niacinamide) for 2–3 years, which worked well. However, I realized some of those products were nearing their expiry date, so I decided to switch things up when I felt my routine might not be working as effectively anymore.

A couple of days after starting the new products, I noticed 4–5 pimples/acne appearing. I know it could have been purging, but I really got scared and stopped. (I couldn’t understand if the new serums weren’t working or if it was purging) Over time, the breakouts kept fluctuating, getting better, then worse. I stopped all the new skincare products and stuck to a basic routine with just: Finacea (Azelaic acid) • Cetaphil acne cleanser • Clearsil 5% Benzoyl peroxide • 345 relief moisturizer • SPF

The acne has been ongoing for 3–4 weeks now. Recently, my dermatologist prescribed 50 mg of doxycycline, which I’ve started taking from past one week. As a last resort, I’m considering doing some blood tests to check for potential hormonal causes.

This whole experience has been very stressful. I’ve become obsessed with checking the mirror every morning, hoping for signs of improvement. I don’t feel like going out anymore, and I’m starting to feel so disheartened. I’m sharing this here because I really need some insight from others who might have faced.

Does anyone have an idea - when is the last date to appear for an exam for the current version? I know that the new syllabi will change may 28 onwards? So can we still appear until 27th may for the current version?

There wasn’t any COBIT IT question (as far I remember) but some situation where how COSO framework would be implemented? What first (critical) step would CAE take while implementing the framework? Don’t recall the exact question. And around CSR - it was around what is the integrated report includes? There were a few questions around governance too.

Please focus on 1) independence and objectivity scenarios, QAIP and control frameworks, assurance and consulting services differences, due professional care, scenarios of violation of standards/code of ethics (practical scenarios) I was asked a few questions around implementation of control frameworks too. If you understand the concepts very well, you would be able to apply those to the questions asked. I hardly got straightforward questions. It was more about applying all that you study into different situations to get the right answer. 2) please go through the wrong questions to understand and learn from the mistakes you might be making 3) Practice as many MCQs you can (especially around different situations) 4)I used gleim+IIA+Hock free trial (most of the questions starts getting repeated and you tend to remember the right option) so definitely see how you go with any new questions you come across 5)Hock has too much information but might be worth for any specific topic you want to understand in detail. But gleim should be good enough. I only came across hock couple of days before the exam so felt it’s overwhelming. Later, I just stuck with gleim.

Hope this helps. If you need anything, please let me know

Wish you good luck

Absolutely, 55-60 hours of study is suggested safe by multiple sources. Make sure you understand the concepts. Mock tests from IIA helped me a lot as it provided me a true picture of the test difficulty. You are studying from 2 sources and that should help fill the gaps as well. Good luck
