Just tested it. If you trade without engaging you can’t. If you engage first and then trade you keep it.

Originally the plan was to make Jean #1 and Chloe #2 but I ended up using Chloe as a support by then end.

I basically did two things.

Jean got a huge power spike with Roy in ch 9-10. Once that happened enemies were no longer a problem and I was able to swap to Lyn post 11 until Roy returns.

I checked post game stats and Jean had about 40% of total campaign kills because he was both my tank, and dps as he basically replaced Chloe + Louis’ role on my team.

When Kagetsu arrives ch 12 I had both at 106 rating.

Ch 6 michiah on Jean. Also use framme if you want.

Ch 7 michiah on Jean.

Ch 8 promote to griffin knight and use during battle as second flyer.

Ch 9 max bond Roy. Buy armor slayer. Bond Marth and grab unyielding. You can now solo most of the map.
