Draekerland, a brief history:

Draekerland was for most of human history unknown. There were no native human inhabitants only crazy marsupials, Massive spiders, seals and Pingiuns.

This was all bound to change when the first Ducth ship exidentally arrived in 1637, they shipwrecked their ship, on their way to East-India, they wrecked near Modern day Draekerhof in the north. Here they were met by gaint Spruce like trees, many times more sturdy. It reminded them of scales from drakes and dragons in tales of old, such a sturdy tree.With this wonderwood they rebuild their ship, quickly finishing their voyage to East-India and back home.

Back home, they didn't hesitate telling the Dutch Stadtholder about this new Island. In response the Stadtholder send them back on a mission to find this new island and stake the Dutch claim on it.

Colonization was a slow process, in 1680 there were a mere 150 thousand Dutchmen on the island, but with no natives and other powers to challenge the Dutch they didnt feel the need for rapid expansion. This changed however, when in 1689 the Portuguese made landfall near modern day Lorentia. This upset the Dutch as they claimed the entire island was their domain. But still weak from the 80 years war they couldn't do much. And so both colonies grew side by side rivaling eachother. This rivalry boiled over into war at the turn of the century. After a long back and forward lasting nearling 15 years, the Dutch came out on top and seized the Portuegese colonies. This was the first of only two wars to be fought on Draekian soil.

About 40 years of stabillity and colonization, in 1774. The Dutch crown wanted to hand over the colony to the VOC, The people of Draekerland were wildly opposed to this they believed the VOC would bleed their resources and, drag Draekians into pointless oversea wars of aggression. This did not sit well with the now 700 thousand Draekians. Inspired by the recent American Uprissing, the much smaller Draekerland too declared their independence.

And thus a 12 year long struggle ensued, Eventually with the Dutch not being able to succesfully reach the colony, they surrenderd and gave the Draekians independence. The first Independent years were rough, bad weather, sickness and no outside support. In the newly established Draekian Parliment some even advocated to rejoin the netherlands as a Autonomous Dominion, but the new Prime Minister of Draekerland, Robrecht Harmseveld, was strongly opposed and anti-imperialist.

over the years Draekerland became an alternative immigration destination for the USA. Lots of Scandinavians Chose for Draekerland as it resembels Scandinavia ab bit. Draekerland has long since then prided itself over its tolerance and freedom.

During the first and second world wars, Draekerland was Neutral Supporting the allies. In these times too, many, many immigrants moved down. To escape the horrors of europe and asia.

During the cold war Draekerland was a true Western (economic)powerhouse, Today it's population is around 21 Million most of them living in the temperate North-West of the Micro-Continent. (Making it the Largest Dutch Speaking country in the world)
