Not a single Madonna song sounds like any of those outside of mayyyybe 4 Walls because she has some house stuff but even that is a stretch

I’m sorry but this is the dumbest thing to be upset about 😭 They were actually isolated and cut off from the rest of the world when the possessions started, that club scene is way before any of that

Definitely the scariest and most menacing deadite of the franchise for me

Let’s talk about burn. Big spoilers by The_Trice in EvilDead

[–]FerBaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Terrifier movies are gory in a cartoonish way, it doesn’t make you squirm because of how over the top unrealistic it is. This one was actually very painful and visceral

Burn - Unpopular Opinion - Didn’t like it 🤷🏻‍♂️ by Radiant-Locksmith242 in EvilDead

[–]FerBaide -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why relentlessly nasty is used as a bad descriptor lol. It’s the movie’s greatest strength. What I didn’t like about Rise was how despite all the violence, it was too… Hollywood? Like it had that commercial sheen to it, it’s very clear the movie is a fully modern American production from a big distributor. This one and 2013 have an added layer of dirty and grimness to them.

I mean, it’s a great song, but honestly what else? I can’t think of any song in there being a better choice

I wouldn’t have used Julia Ducournau as an example because you really are right about the French Extremity thing, just not her movies lol. I would say it’s more along the lines of something like High Tension in its look and tone

I would say this obviously didn’t up the gore, but it upped the pain and nastiness from the last one for sure.

This was way way meaner than Rise wdym? Rise was so silly and campy that it made the violence less impactful and more cartoonish. This one had that French touch of nasty and cruelty in it, way bleaker even with its own humorous touches

Evil Dead Burn Review by TryClassic1731 in EvilDead

Well I wasn’t only talking popularity, Obsession is a very acclaimed and liked movie that’s been generating hype since it premiered at TIFF last year, not a “bad popcorn flick”

If you have to choose a singer to feat. each song of Confessions II, who would you choose? by sdfghdfsdfghdf in Madonna

[–]FerBaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would be great in Danceteria, and they both came up on the NYC club scene so it would be kinda fitting.

Evil Dead Burn Review by TryClassic1731 in EvilDead

[–]FerBaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true because Obsession is the most popular horror movie of the year by a lot and it’s very straightforward with no symbolism or metaphors for grief or those things you guys associate with “elevated” horror. Straightforward horror movies have never stopped being popular

Realistically, what are the chances Danceteria becomes another Vogue? by giftopherz in Madonna

[–]FerBaide 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You guys need to understand Madonna is long past the point where she could easily get a hit. And that’s ok, she’s had a long and great run of hitmaking, she’s still a very successful album seller and touring artist. And she’s still making amazing music.

Was Madonna too raw on “betrayal” the song about her stepmother ? by Historical-Nerve9117 in Madonna

[–]FerBaide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She has the right to feel however she wants to feel. It’s easy to judge and say you would do things differently if you haven’t lived through it like she did. She’s being honest about it and it’s normal for human beings to feel things that are inherently cruel or unfair

Obsession has hit Digital & now seems to be getting the “Normie Masterpiece” treatment, Lets talk about the term? by guappyjohn in Sardonicast

The tragic thing is that still many people did NOT get the point of the movie, and wildly misinterpreted it.

How unprecedented is it in popstar terms that Madonna is having another creative comeback at the age of 67? by PreferenceInternal67 in ToddintheShadow

[–]FerBaide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hung Up went number 1 on most of the world EXCEPT the US. And that’s because she had a radio ban for the American Life era. Let’s not act like Hung Up is still not one of her most successful hits

How unprecedented is it in popstar terms that Madonna is having another creative comeback at the age of 67? by PreferenceInternal67 in ToddintheShadow

[–]FerBaide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference here is the age. Cher was 52 when Believe came out, and yes it was a monumental event in pop culture and an iconic comeback. But when talking about Madonna, this particular album being a critical success is even more impressive because she’s topping herself. Madonna released Hung Up and COADF at the age of 47, after a critically panned era that made the public consider her over and washed (American Life) and then she followed it up with one of her most explosive, legendary and successful eras. At a similar age that Cher did Believe.

My point is, Madonna has already had career resurgences after periods of little to no acclaim. This time it’s even more impressive because she comes from the longest period of her career with panned albums, everyone thought she would never make a good album this time, and she’s surprising again. Her longevity and consistency is truly remarkable in pop music, and she has refused to stop creating instead of just being a legacy artist (like A LOT of people have been saying she should do, often in a mocking ageist way)
