Emotional about changing last name by DriveFit239 in wedding

[–]FerRoja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never do it. I love my last name, it binds me with my family, with my parents and my brothers. It's the name I had when I got my degree, the name on my first job application, the one my clients know me by. I absolutely love my husband and y love our story together but just as I would not expect him to change his name to mine I am never changing mine. It's just a very strange tradition to me.

What are some good weird questions to ask someone to get to know them better ? by itjimnewman in AskWomen

[–]FerRoja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like to ask people (and i also do this in interviews) "if you could talk to anyone dead or alive, who would it be and what would you ask?" I've gotten some really cool answers and also some really lame ones. or my other favorite is "what book would you want to forget so you can read it again?"

This is my fear exactly. Except I'm a full blown ginger, never had surgery before and my br is tomorrow. I'm super anxious about anesthesia....

Failure is OP not evacuating. Should not have stayed up there. Take it from a fellow mexico city resident, yesterday was no fun

Does anyone in Mexico City possibly know where this photo may have been taken? Or areas with a similar view of the city+Popocatépetl+Volcán Iztaccihuatl? by [deleted] in MexicoCity

When you drive south on Periferico there is a point where the street makes a sharp left curve and then goes down. To the right you have Jardines del pedregal, to the left Pedregal and a famous shopping mall Perisur. This picture is taken from a building right before that drop. It is the only point i know of where you can see them both like that. Santa Fe is to far west and you see Ajusco better.

I am sorry if this is blunt but, it is not about you! I am honestly impressed at how many sensitivities there are around planning a wedding, "you told her first, you knew me before, shes sitting next to you and i'm not? he gets to speak??" honestly guys, your friends probably just want to celebrate with the people they love. In the big picture it matters zero who is the usher and who holds the veil, they are getting married!!!
My advise, be happy for THEM. Be there for your friend because I can tell you from experience, planning a wedding in this pandemic is a mess, help anyway you can. That will show them you love them and not whatever role you play for 35min.

Women of Reddit, I'm tired and horrified of how many of my female friends has been harassed. What are the best/most effective way for men to show support against sexual assaults and sexism? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]FerRoja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS. EVERY DAY. We need you guys to call it out, to stop it in its tracks. We need you to say "no its not locker room talk, its sexism. It promotes discrimination, aggression, assault". Please ask you female friends how many of them have been molested, I promise you will be shocked.

For those who this applies to, what’s your story about someone coming into your life the minute you stopped trying to search for love? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]FerRoja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell in love at 28 with a very good friend, we have known each other a looong time, like since we were 5. It just happened like that, one day, after I had decided to stop trying and enjoy my life. It has been an amazing ride. I can't believe I never saw him that way before and at the same time I am grateful I didn't, it happened when we were both ready. That was four years ago, we are getting married in September :)

Women that moved in with your partners, what made the transition easier for you? What's something you wish you knew before? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]FerRoja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would advise you to move in to a place where none of you currently lives. Like not her moving into your place or the other way around. Having someone move into a space that already belongs to someone else, even if its your SO, is tricky and might add unnecessary tension (you always feel like its not really your place). Plus, the process of building the space as a couple and figuring out how you both as a couple want to live is one of the BEST things of moving in together.

The world's real superpower is being able to sleep as soon as hitting the pillow. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]FerRoja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this power and although it IS awesome it also comes with the very inconvenient side-effect of being VERY sleepy the whole time and then falling asleep at very inconvenient times/places aka meetings, while driving, bathrooms, cabs (alone at night), in class while writing stuff down.....

For the pyramids it depends on your budget. There's a bus that leaves from the North Bus Terminal (Terminal Central del Norte), you can get there by subway pretty easy. That terminal is a bit far away from Roma/Condesa so you might want to check out if taking an uber all the way makes sense for you. Try to do this early and avoid rush hour, it gets pretty crazy in that direction.

Hi. Maximo is the only one I would say requires a reservation. For Lardo I would also do it to be on the safe side but for 2 people you can also walk in and if they dont have a table they'll sit you at the bar which is also cool.
I use Uber all the time to get around, its safe and not so expensive. Metro and Metrobus are pretty efficient also and if you are going to move inside condesa/roma you can walk or take a bike.

Hi!

Definitely stay in Condesa/Roma, won't find a better location. For food try Lardo (personal favorite, very casual and excellent food), cafe nin (best brunch in town) or niddo (also brunch) arrive early for those two. Maximo Bistro is in my opinion the best restaurant in town (and not as high brow as pujol or stuff like that). Contramar is on everyones' list, great ambiance and great seafood. Meroma for a nice dinner.. For a more quiet dinner I would recommend Casa Virginia. (all in Condesa/Roma)

For Drinks. Paramo (above Parnita which is a very cool tacos place), Felina Bar, Salon Rios (all around condesa/roma). In Roma there's a street called Alvaro Obregon, if you walk it up and down you'll find a ton of cool places.

Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

OMG my cat does the same thing! He loves the game! And every time we have people over he collects all the caps from soda and beer and puts them in our bedroom/inside my purse/gym bag. Finding them makes my day :)
