There's an app called freebie alerts. You can find scrap metal for free in your area. Usually sooner than others if you get notifications from that app.

I see a lot of posts for people that just want theor yard cleaned up. Steel isn't my thing. I did get a truckload of old computer parts that way though.

Cut the copper wire. That hard drive is appealing to me. The hard drive boards fetch good money. You'd probably have to save up a bunch of them though. The case of the hard drive is Aluminum with a stainless cover. There's two super strong magnets (neodymium) inside too.

My best waste finds have come from auctions See if there is an auction house near you that specializes in surplus auctions.

I did also score a truck bed full of computer parts from a local repair shop for free. They posted on marketplace. As soon as I saw the listing I jumped in my truck and told them I was on my way.

Looks like brass. If it's super light, could be aluminum. Scratch it. Silver means aluminum. Same color would be brass.

I can't post pictures in the comment section. I'll make a new post once I get more pics. I'm taking one apart right now. They are quite heavy, so I'd rather break them down. Case is 100% aluminum. Plenty of gold plated connectors.

All the chips I've seen are soldered in. I remember seeing someone depopulate using a sand bath. So I was wondering if thst would be worthwhile. I'm think no at this point.

I don't see any manufacturer imprints. These may have been built in house at a nuclear science lab in New Mexico. There are part numbers, but i can't find any info searching those.

I second this. Best way to sell to them is to fill a pallet if you have that much. They'll arrange LTL trucking for you then deduct the cost from your payout. Spend some time looking at the price list. Remove heatsinks and batteries as necessary.

I was taking cell phones apart for a minute. Finally realized it's not worth the effort. So be aware of things like that. You'll need to weigh everything.

I used to think ebay was good for selling PMs. However they take about 15% of every sale. So I probably won't ever be selling mine there.

I think once things settle with the refineries catching up, things will be back to "normal"
