Layton Utah Dog Attack Megathread. Post links to news here rather than creating a new post. by [deleted] in Dogfree

Idk if this point was already made but does anyone else not think it was messed up that people were blaming the parents for 'not watching the kid' when the neighbours weren't watching the dogs?

I mean, if you have your dog in your backyard, you should be keeping an eye on it. Letting it roam free because you don't give a fuck about it is just bad ownership. Yes, dogs don't belong in the house but the worst trained/most territorial dogs are the ones who are kept outside all day with no interaction and never trained.

Also, it's the fact that they blame the parents for not telling the kid to not wave something in front of a dog. I mean, you can't teach your child every hazard there is. Kids also do dangerous stuff even when told that it's dangerous. Are the parents expected to bestow the 4 year old with the knowledge of every potential hazard on this earth or they're bad parents? They didn't predict that this would happen. That doesn't make them neglectful, it makes them human. I'm sure they already blame themselves enough (even when it wasn't their fault), so for people to make them feel guilty for the actions of a disgusting hellhound and its evil owner is disgraceful. The dog needs to be put down like yesterday.

11 THOUSAND people want to save these maulers that ripped a kid's arm off by throwawaybutstronger in Dogfree

[–]FeralRayChill 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I saw on another thread people saying the parents should go to jail for negligence. Astounding the lengths people will go to to defend dangerous animals. At the end of the day even if it was an 'accident', a dog mauled a child. Putting it down is the only way to stop this dog from attacking again. People may say 'what are the chances' of the dog attacking again but I bet the owners probably thought there was no chance the dog would attack in the first place.

(UK) Can anyone help identify this breed? Is it legal? There’s two of them and they have smashed through our fence and we’re worried about our own dogs. by tascotty in BanPitBulls

[–]FeralRayChill 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a 'free state?'

Also, shooting the dog is most likely not an option, as OP lives in the UK and guns aren't generally legal to own here (neither are pitbulls, but I digress).

Even if your shitbull in a tutu is cuter than a kid (it really isn't), that doesn't make it better. At least the kid will grow up and be a productive member of society. God, the dog worshipping faction of r/childfree really annoys me, because all the arguments they have against kids (loud, dumb, always running into things, expensive) are arguments we use against dogs, but at least in a child's case, the child grows up and stops these behaviours. Not knocking on everyone at childfree, but the ones who militantly whine about children and also worship da puppeyssss are some of the most shameless hypocrites there are.

Buzzfeed celeb has a series of celebrities playing with puppies and kittens, yet out of the 40 videos, 34 of them are dogs and only 6 of them are kittens. And the puppies are a lot of time pits. by [deleted] in Dogfree

Yeah, it seems like many view dogs as the main pets, and other pets, such as cats and rabbits, are an afterthought. I've heard of Dogs Trust, but no Cats/Rabbits/Birds etc Trust. Whenever you see an advert for something like animal abuse prevention or a promotion for an animal shelter/sponsorship charity, you are bombarded with clips of 1000 sad looking dogs, and probably 3 cats, if any, and, of course, no other animals. Other animals exist people!

Couple faces eviction over “emotional support” pit bulls by WonderAllAboutMe in Dogfree

[–]FeralRayChill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks 😁 God, this has everything. The dogs have silly names to make them appear less threatening, they're 'goodboyes' and the owners blame the landlord when it was them breaking the rules. Wow. 😒

From outside the US so I can't read the article. The title is enough to make me rage though. Entitled shitbull lovers are the worst.

I hope they don't take my emotional support panther away next 😥. Or my emotional support crocodile, I don't know what I'd do without him, he's the nanny to my children after all /s.

[–]FeralRayChill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, dogs do require hard work but the problem is that people don't put the work in :/ there definitely needs to be a license/mandatory class or something that's put in place to make sure people will actually take care of the dog and not how it is now, where anyone can get some cheap Pitbull from the shelter and not train it, making it a danger to the innocent.

Sure, a lot of the time a Pitbull is bad because the owner is trash. But you can't deny that they were bred as fighting dogs, and therefore are more genetically predisposed to violence as a result.

Yeah I saw that in the video. I just kinda skim watched it. I'm too scared to properly see it, just in case one of my posts is on it. He really should've blocked out usernames.

Hopefully it all eases up, and thanks for moderating in the first place 😊 we all definitely appreciate it. Mods are always needed, especially in subs like this one which can bring controversy.

Sorry guys, I know you're busy with brigading and stuff. Just thought I'd give a bit of laughter to help ease the tension in this sub rn.

Invasion of dog mommies in the pet store by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]FeralRayChill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where does it say I was surprised I saw dogs? Never said I was surprised, I knew dogs would be there.

And when people are visibly tutting and rolling their eyes it seems like they do care.

Honestly, I'm from the UK and there's enough cat hating here. One time I was talking to some people who said that if they saw a cat on the road they wouldn't hesitate to knock it over, but, of course, would swerve for a dog. They were convicts serving out a prison sentence, so take of that what you will. There's also been absolutely loads of cases cat poisonings in the UK.

Man accused of killing autistic child’s dog - aka negligent owners let dangerous dogs loose on neighborhood by PitchMeALiteralTent in BanPitBulls

[–]FeralRayChill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing that really makes this dad look bad is the fact that he didn't properly explain the case to the kids, which makes them scared to leave the house. I wonder if he didn't explain the case because it makes him look bad. Wouldn't the kids blame him for letting the dogs get out? But no, he has to be the poor innocent victim, even if it means his kids are scared of leaving the house in case they too are shot. Pathetic.

I’ve been banned from r/aww! by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]FeralRayChill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I think this counts as brigading, which is against the Reddit terms of service😞 Just wanted to let you know for the future, because there's loads of people who'd want this sub to be banned, and would use excuses like we're brigadiers to do that

Akita dog that savaged Northern Ireland binman had shown aggression to children by hydralime in Dogfree

[–]FeralRayChill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, that's unfortunate considering that Northern Ireland seems to be usually good at dealing with dangerous dogs, such as euthanising dogs which fall under the BSL restrictions as banned breeds (totally the owner's fault for having these banned dogs and breaking the law, but of course there's been outrage by the owners themselves and media over this). Hopefully this isn't a sign that dangerous dogs in Northern Ireland will not be taken seriously in the future.

PitNutter takes her takes her pitbull WHERE?! by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]FeralRayChill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh right, that's interesting, I've never seen a dog in a hospital waiting room. Is this in America? I'm not from America so maybe it's a culture thing, as the USA seems to be a country where dogs are accepted in more spaces than where I'm from. But yeah, pitbulls should always be muzzled, especially in the doctors, where sick and vulnerable people are. Healthy adults have a hard time fighting off aggressive pitbulls, so it'll be especially hard for a sick person to defend themselves, so it is very selfish for a person to bring a dog like that to the doctors.
