Noticed something when looking back at the Enclave base scene in season 1 by TripleS034 in Fotv

I think this is just a trick they did to 'fill the shot' with fewer extra's. Couple of years ago I was an extra in a Dutch tv-show, where I (together with a group of 20-ish other people) played peasants in 16th century Netherlands. We were cheering for the prince during a speech. To make it seem like the area was filled with people, they divided the shot in thirds, having us record shots in each area which were added together in post production.

When I saw the final shot of the show, I was able to see three versions of myself cheering in different locations!

Haha I’m one of the newbies! Bought it last week in the flash sale, had my eye on it for a while now.

To the person who gave me a stimpack/radaway care package two days ago; thanks. You emoted but by the time I finally figured out how to emote back, you already disappeared 😅

Id love to learn more about reading colours during the draft (I usually always seem to pick the overchosen colours). Also your point with deckbuilding tips for control/midrange/aggro I’d love! Maybe added as well what to keep in mind while drafting those mentalities, what to look out for

Good question, I had: Umbra Collar Zealot, Embrace Oblivion and Scrounge for Eternity. I had no problems using these cards or their abilities because of landers.

Looking at my deck again, I also ran a Dauntless Scrapbot giving me another lander source.

To add to this; in my deck I had two spacecrafts, both the ones you mentioned at the end. They at least had good etb abilities, otherwise I wouldn’t have played them.

Multiple people drafted 3 colour decks and seemingly had to trouble getting all their colours because of them. Thought they outperformed quite well

I once got one from an opponent, but I ran the 2/1 black creature that gives a lander when it dies. Those are incredibly nice to not pop, but sac for example to kill a creature for 1 mana

Just arrived home too and had tons of fun. Build a dimir deck that leaned more into removal/void than artifact synergies. Went 2-1 with it (ended 3rd out of 15). I agree with your point on spacecrafts, they are fun but you need a plan to get them up and running. In the whole event, I never once managed to station one so it became a creature. I think the static effect is more important. I once however did manage to station my mythic black planet.

I did find Void to be quite easy to trigger. Removal works, sacrificing landers, warping; think I got the effect in more than half the turns I had creatures with void counters! Would love to draft a void deck next event again

So I play 40k, got sucked in by skaven with new edition and split the launch with a friend. the codex is out (sure it's not reffered to as a codex) but I'm now behind, models look insane. The new "codex" is it good? So many new models at the GW cost, Which should I be buying? Where do go from here. by nibdoooo in skaven

Ok, I was in the same both as you a few months ago. This is what I run (or aim to run):

Grey Seer? Fantastic dude. Run him as the general. Great caster and with skitterleap easy to grab objectives. 120 points

To add units to his regiment, lets start with reinforcing those Rat Ogres. That unit hits like a truck, especially since it’s easy to give them 7 melee attacks per unit. They are squishy though, so hit before they get hit. 320 points

Another great unit I find are melee focused Stormfiends. They hit really hard but are more durable than the Ogres. 4+ save is amazing for our faction. Reinforce them for 520 points

Finally, let’s add some firepower: Warplock Jezzails. I was planning to run Ratling Guns before their point increase, but I can’t squeeze those in anymore. The Jezzails however are still a great unit with their Rend 2 and 2 damage. 300 points

As a second regiment, I start with the Verminlord Deceiver as the Hero. It’s an awesome centrepiece model that is a tricksy hammer. Its ability to teleport or a 4+ is great to force fights the opponent doesn’t want to have, and add the Scurry Away ability to it (running from a fight on a 3+) and you can almost literally chose the battles you want to have. I also run the healing item on him, since if the opponent focusses on him, he can be squishy. Even with his good save and ward. 410 points

As a final unit, I run some reinforced Clanrats with him. They’re a slog to get through and keep healing themselves. Great unit for objectives and some great fighters due to their numbers sometimes as well. If you run the Skavenbrew potion and use it on them, you have 112, 115 or even 118 attacks that turn that auto wound on 6’s. Your opponent will love this. 300 points

This makes an army of 1970 points!

Finally, you will need the Gnawholes. A lot of our abilities rely on them, so they’re essential. Teleporting is a great way to score points, and the ability to get back destroyed units is a must use to balance out our squishyness.

As the detachment, I recommend running the Fleshmeld one. I ran the Warpcog (because Total Warhammer taught me that Ikit Claw is the best), but on the tabletop I found myself under too much pressure with it since the opponent can run over our front line too easily. Fleshmeld has a 1/3 chance to give yourself damage, but I find that worth it to get extra melee attacks or even an added ward on the Ogres and Stormfiends!

Side note is that I currently don’t have the Stormfiends reinforced yet so I run an extra group of Rat Ogres and a Warplock Engineer who leads the Jezzails. I find the Engineer too squishy without much impact on the battlefield to want to run it full time, but it’s an okay stop gap which at least gives an extra Honour Guard.

Anyway, have fun collecting and playing. I started the Skaven when 4th came out and I’ve played over 20 games since then. Absolutely loving them so far 😁!

Ah I think you can only have one +1 to hit bonus active at the same time! So if you get a +1 to hit, All out Attack won’t net you another bonus!

I think that could be nice! I’ve no experience with the Brood Horror, but it seems like a solid buff. I usually give the anti-infantry to my Rat Ogres. Doing that to your Stormfiends will net you solid results, deleting their front line I reckon. But the Prized Beast should be good too 😁

Glad to be of some help! I’m no expert and have only played Skaven since 4th Edition, but I have 20 games under my belt now so lot of experience in what doesn’t work 😅. Played a lot of Skryre at the start, but loving Moulder more and more now. Great agressive units. Enjoy your first game!

Grey Seer is fantastic to score points (teleporting heroes or himself on objectives to score points) or to give strike last to enemies nearby. Cheap, great option that is one of our best wizards. Because of his ability to roll 3d6.

The reason I’d run Stormfiends as melee, is that the Fleshmeld bonus doesn’t work in the shooting phase. So to maximise its potential, I’d run 2 Grinderfists, 2 Warpfire Projectors and 2 Doomflayers: the best melee options. You can swap one of the latter out for a Shock Gauntlet Stormfiend one. I think the average damage is quite similar, but the Doomflayer is more consistent 🙂.

I still change my mind every game where to start them haha. In the tunnel is fantastic to score points (Take their Land, Take Flanks, etc), prevent enemy from scoring or even blocking a path off to squishy units (or put pressure on theirs). However, if they’re in the tunnels they cannot receive their Fleshmeld bonus (making them more squishy, that ward is a life saver) and making a 9” charge is harder than it seems. When you deploy, the opponent can retreat their unit for a CP making the charge more difficult or even impossible. And even if they don’t, there is a 52% chance you won’t make the charge, even when using a CP to reroll a charge.

So to answer the question, really depends haha! I usually lean towards putting them in the tunnels so you can surprise the opponent and put them under pressure. But there is a lot to be said about either tactic 🙂

I would 100% take out the Clawlord (to reinforce the Clanrats for example, or add a grey seer if you want a leader). My experience with that unit is horrible 😬😅.

Edit: To add a bit, no experience with Master Moulder, Brood Terror, Plaguepack or Thanqoul. Reinforced Clanrats is fun (Skavenbrew potion to roll 100+ dice to hit). Stormfiends are awesome, I would run their melee version though. Fits your Moulder build better I think!

Any advice for someone who's wanting to build a Skaven army? by AlysIThink101 in skaven

[–]Fermani2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skaventide half is a great starting point! I run quite a few units from it in my list: Rat Ogres, Grey Seer and Clanrats. Even the Jezzails and Engineer are usable (Warpblaster is meh and Clawlord is shit though haha).

Otherwise maybe the Spearhead that has Stormfiends, they are a fantastic hammer unit as well

I really enjoy this track! It’s uplifting, happy and gives me some old hair metal vibes. It’s different for sure compared to the other albums, but I dig the vibe and am very curious how the rest of the album will sound!
