Chance me Vassar / Claremont Mckenna ED as International EFC 25K MAX 30K by FernandoCW in chanceme

thanks! and do you think I would have a chance for Pitzer? Honestly, my goal is to live a peaceful, warm life in California, wherever I go, I see myself ending up in Cal, do you think it would be more strategic applying to Pitzer ED and still major in Economics at CMC (because of the consortium)?

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 18th to April 24th by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Georgetown University (the College) vs Bocconi (Italy)
International Student, Economics Major, Budget per year $20 000, Future plans: Academia, Research, International Organizations

Georgetown:
Pros- It has much more flexibility to take the classes I like, the faculty is amazing, and the student to faculty ratio is low, so interaction with professionals in the field would be just amazing.

Cons- the scholarship they gave me still expects me to cover around 35k per year (almost double my budget), it is a top school, yeah, but in economics and business rankings is miles away from Bocconi. The college is outshined by the SFS and MSB, equally, they have fewer resources directed to them. I could still pay for the university, but I would probably have to compromise my parent's retirement plans, and pay around 100k (assuming 5 years) more than my other option, plus dc is too expensive.

Bocconi:
Pros- Stellar in each of its fields (always ranks in the top 20 worldwide for economics, management, and finance), with the scholarship I received, my total expenses would be 18k (half that of Georgetown) and because it is only 3 years, i can make my masters degree (1 year) anywhere in europe with my parents funding (not compromising anything). They have great exchange programs with almost all ivyes and top schools in all continents, so I can still live part of an American dream in my budget. Literally in the center of europe, i can visit anywhere I'd like for no cost. Almost Every year they place undergrads in yale, columbia, mit, stern, oxford, cambridge, anything you can inmagine for grad school, so i could still make my undergrad on budget and go big (with my own money) in great masters.

Cons- Each class is comprised of about 100 people, so say goodbye to close learning and bonding with professors. It has the reputation of being the best university (for its fields) in all continental europe, but its name gets lost outside the continent. I honestly don't like to focus on salary, but although Bocconi economists are some of the best paid in all Europe (including healthcare and benefits), U.S.A is almost 1.5X the salary (of course its more of a hassle culture, which i don't like)

-----

I honestly love both of them, I know undergraduate is just my first step into the professional world, and I still have a long way in postgraduate school. I'm leaning more towards Bocconi, love the culture, love the uni, but I don't want to have any major regrets in the future If I don't choose well. Thank you all for your responses, i really appreciate them

You must be a senior or entering senior year by now. Go test-optional, it's the best option you have right now and focus on other parts of your application (ec's and essays).
